I Remember

Chapter 15

We sit in the same position for a couple of minutes in awe, looking up at the stars and beauty of outer space.

"Asher."

"Yes?"

"Can you tell me a story?"

"About the constellations?"

"Oh, no, about us. Us before my procedure."

"Umm, yea sure. One time I took you to this really beautiful park that went on for miles and miles. We brought our bikes, and we biked past waterfalls, sunflower fields, lakes, rivers, woods, and I think we even saw a bear!" He chuckled. "Then we went down a very steep hill and your bike broke. You went tumbling all the way down and landed in a pond. I called out your name multiple times, but you weren't responding. I thought you hit your head and drowned, so I ran into the pond to go get you. You swam up behind me, and said BOO!"

I laughed a little.

"I turned around, startled, and there you were laughing at me. Of course I started laughing too, but that day I was really scared, that day I promised myself I would never lose you." He says while turning his head to look at me. I think back to the time where him and I made eye contact when I was walking with rose. I felt like I knew him, which turned out to be true, but It was more than that. It was...not love at first sight exactly, but familiarity. Like hello, it's you, I know that it will always be you.

I was still In deep thought when I heard, "Maya, I need to tell you something." I finally faced my head towards his.

"Ok, go ahead."

"When we first met I could not tell if I loved you the first moment I say you, or if it was the second or third or fourth. But I remember the first moment I looked at you generally happy, and realized that somehow the rest of the world seemed to vanish when I was with you." He paused. "I love you, Maya."

"I love you too, Asher." Our faces slowly came closer and closer. The butterflies in my stomach increased after each move. If it were any other person I would back away, but I felt safe with Asher. And then It came. His soft lips landed on mine. He tasted like strawberries. I then closed my eyes, kissing him passionately. He placed his hand on my cheek, bringing me closer, deepening the kiss. I felt my whole body melting into his. It only lasted for 30 seconds, but to me it felt like eternity.
