Asher's POV

**Flashback**

I sat at my desk waiting for the bell to ring. I look at the clock on the western wall every 5 minutes. 20 more minutes. 15 more minutes. 10 more minutes. My teacher just finished her lecture on who knows what, so she told us the last 10 minutes we could start our homework.

There was around 20 kids in the classroom sitting in rows. I was at the very front next to the door. I told myself that I would do the homework when I get home since I don't give a crap about this.

Lost in thought I hear the door open. I see my friend Caroline at the doorway, pointing her arm out like she was letting someone in. Then she came. I beautiful girl who looked around my age. I felt time stop when we made eye contact. She had to be around 5'2. She had wavy dark brown hair that flowed since the air-conditioning was on her. She looked perfect in every way possible, but what really brought my attention were her eyes. Her eyes were the softest brown influenced with green, as if she held the new spring growth inside. They were the forest floor and the gentle flowers, somewhere to rest and breath. I could see her pure innocence, and something about her just makes me not want to look away.

I break my gaze when I hear Caroline calling my name."Hey Asher! This is Maya! She is new here!"

"Oh, umm, hi Maya, I'm Asher." I stand up from my feet to shake her hand. She gives me a warm smile.

"Hi Asher, I'm Maya, but you already new that!" When we touched I felt a shock go through my body. I could tell that her heart was just as soft as her smooth hand.

"Anyway, nice seeing you Asher, but I have to go show her the rest of the building," Caroline insists.

"Yes, right. Nice meeting you Maya, I'll see you around."

"Nice meeting you too Asher, see you!" She gives me that mesmerizing smile again and walks out of the classroom.

I sit back down at my desk, just as the bell rang. I stand back up, get my things, and leave school for the day. I had so many thoughts about this girl Maya, but I knew one thing, which was that I have hopelessly fallen for her. She is now the only thing keeping me going, since my dad left. She light up my darkness, and I will forever keep her safe.

**End of Flashback**

I thought back to this moment as I take her hand, leading her down the 15 flights of stairs. We make it out of the hospital with her still leaning on me for support. It is the cutest thing ever. By now we are on a road that no one goes. Well I haven't seen anyone on it for the past 5 years so I would assume that no one goes on it. I pull out my phone from my pocket and start to play her favorite love song, Skinny Love. I place it on the ground, and put out my hand.

"I think you owe me a dance."
