"Lannh, get up,  we're leaving soon," Rose says as I lay in my bed.

"Go without me," I say turning over, pulling my sheets over my head.

Today we were all supposed to go to Hogsmeade, but I really wasn't in the mood. It had been a few weeks since my kiss with Scorpius, and it's been awful. Not because things have been awkward, but because they haven't. He acts like nothing ever happened, and I think that hurt more than his rejection. As if our kiss was so insignificant that he couldn't bother to think about it. Unlike me who couldn't stop thinking about it.

"Are you sure?" Rose asks, pulling down the sheets so she can see me.

I nod.
"I'm just really tired."

"Ok," she says hesitantly. "See you at dinner then."

Once she's gone I finally pull myself out of bed and decide to go get something to eat. I lazily pull on a Ravenclaw hoodie and stuff my wand in the hem of my jeans.

The Great Hall is emptier than usual. Most kids are either sleeping in given it's a Saturday morning, or they're on their way to Hogsmeade. The Great Hall has been bewitched for the ceiling to look like it's snowing inside. The windows are frosted with the cold November air and candles line the windowsills.

I spot Sean sitting at the Ravenclaw table, flipping through a book. I make my way over to join him.

"Hey," I say, sliding into the seat across from him.

He looks up from his book and smiles.
"I thought you'd be on your way to Hogsmeade right now."

I shrug as I butter a piece of toast.
"Too tired. What about you? Where's Roselyn?"

Roselyn and Sean had been having something going on between them the past few weeks. They're seen snogging between classes but refuse to call themselves a couple.

"Her and Alicia went to Hogsmeade, and Alicia isn't the biggest fan of me," he says. "Thought it might be best if I stayed here."

I laugh to myself as I remember Seans mishap in potions that burnt off the ends of Alicia's long blond hair. Let's just say, she holds grudges.

Sean goes back to his book as I eat my breakfast. As I'm eating, I spot a few owls flying through the Great Hall, dropping off letters. Among them, I spot my owl Eden. She swoops down and drops a letter on my plate before flying off.

"Letter from home?" Sean asks, glancing at the letter.

"Looks like it."

I turn over the letter and notice it is in fact a letter from my dad. I feel a wave of relief wash over me, as he hadn't been responding to my letters the past few weeks.

I say bye to Sean and make my way back to the Ravenclaw Common Room to read my letter.
The Common Room is empty, but the fireplace is on, warming up the room from the winter air that has begun to make its presence in the castle. I sit on the chair nearest to the fire and tear open the letter.

Alannah,
Sorry I haven't been responding much. Things have been tense and hectic at home. I have some news to share, that hopefully won't upset you too much.

I'm not sure if you've sensed it, but your mum and I haven't been seeing eye to eye much lately. We've decided it's best for us to take some time apart. We aren't getting a divorce, don't worry too much. We just needed some time away to collect ourselves.

Please don't fret too much about this, I promise it's temporary and it has nothing to do with you. We just have some things to work out but I thought I should let you know.
