Christmas break was just as I had expected. At least, the week I spent with my parents was.
It was awkward dinners and tense conversations. My grandma asked how school is going, I've never seen my mother change the topic so fast.
I only saw a couple of my friends, not keen on lying to them about where I've been all year.
So to sum it up, Christmas was below average.
However, the week I spent at the Potters was amazing.I stayed with Harry- sorry Uncle Harry. He's been insisting I call him uncle.
I stayed with his family, which means him, his wife Ginny, Albus, James, and Lily.
We often visited Rose's house and even had a large family dinner at The Burrow. That's where Rose's dad grew up, and it's now where her grandparents still live, but is often the location of family gatherings.Albus was right, their family was insane. Everyone was talking over each other, Rose's grandmother was bustling away in the kitchen, refusing help from anybody as she cooked.
Rose and Albus had several cousins who I hadn't met before but they were all so nice. Later that night, all of the kinds ran to a nearby hill and I taught them about snowball fight and snowmen. It was so much fun.One night at the Potters, Ginny was telling me all about her Quidditch matches. She plays on a professional team. Harry then showed me old photos of him playing Quidditch at Hogwarts. They all teased Albus about not continuing the Potter legacy of Quidditch seeker, even though James is a chaser for the Gryffindor team.
I also stayed in touch with Scorpius and Cian. I still hadn't told anyone about my "kiss" with Cian. Scorpius had asked me if anything happened when he left and I just said no, not wanting to share just yet.
My letters with Cian were usually short, but sweet. He said he was excited to see me again once school started, and so was I.
So all in all, the second week of holidays- very above average. But eventually, holidays must come to an end, and we were back at Hogwarts.
It was back to the usual, me and Scorpius fighting for the top of each class, Albus struggling to hand in homework on time, and Rose spending her days perfecting charms. The only thing that was different was me and Cian. I don't know what we are, but definitely more than friends. I had ditched my friends on several occasions to go sit with him at lunch at the Gryffindor table. He was so funny, not a day went by without him making me laugh, whether it was during lunch or Transfiguration class. I just told everyone we were friends, not sure what else to call it.
I was now in the library, reviewing notes for an Astronomy test.
"Can we take a break- please?" Sighed Scorpius, putting his head in his hands.
"Sure, take a break. It will make it easier for me to be top of the class," I smirk as I continue reading through my Astronomy textbook.
Scorpius is quiet for a moment before suddenly saying, "So you and Cian?"
I look up at him briefly before looking back down at my textbook. "What about me and Cian?" I ask, trying to play it cool.
"Come on Alannah. You can tell me," he says.
"We're friends, you know this," I say as I flip a page in my textbook.
"So you're going to sit there and tell me that absolutely nothing has happened between you two?" He asks urgently.
I close my book and get up.
"Scorpius you are far too distracting. Now if you don't mind I'll be finishing my studying in my common room."
And with that I leave the library, my face blushing red as ever.----
The following days after my conversation with Scorpius, I began to sit with my friends again at lunch. I suddenly realized I missed spending time with them, I had been so focused on Cian.
