Everything seems to go in slow motion for Valery as Clark is killed right in front of her, a scream erupts from Valery as she falls to her knees. Bruce climbs atop the Beast and wraps Clark's cape around him lowering him down to Diana and Lois. Diana lays him on the ground, gently. Valery cries, laying her head on Clark's torso. Diana cries as she had just witnessed the death of the greatest hero known to man. Bruce kneels beside Valery, putting a hand on her back, comfortingly, "It'll be okay, Valery." Valery sits up and looks at Bruce, slapping his hand away from her, "Don't touch me, it's your fault my brother's dead." Diana appears beside Valery, "Val-El, it wasn't Bruce's fault, it was the monster. It weakened Kal-El, it had Kryptonite. Kal-El knew the risks when we faced this monster, and so did you." "Yeah, well, maybe if Bruce hadn't created that spear, my brother wouldn't be dead right now!" Valery flies off, tears in her eyes.
Days later a funeral is held for the beloved hero that everyone knew and loved, but for Martha, Lois, and Valery he wasn't only a hero, he was more. Valery has cried so much in the past few days that all of her tears have run out, the only thing she feels in her is numbness and anger, anger towards Bruce Wayne. As of right now, her focus was on her mother and Lois, Valery wanted to keep them as calm as possible which was going to be a bit of a challenge. It was Valery's turn to be the hero for the city she and Clark came to love, it was her turn to protect the city from the evil that would come.
