Shaking, I tried to calm myself down. They had caught the guy for gods sake, I was going to be safe from now on. It was probably the shock of everything that had just happened. I was being held in Barry's arms as we sat waiting for a detective to come out. It was late, I was tired and Barry's embrace was so comforting at the moment. Trying to not fall asleep, I focused on Barry's words. Suddenly, there was shouting coming from the front doors. I recognised the voice instantly.
"Bethan?! Oh thank god you're alright!" My best friend Hayley ran over to me, pulling me out of Barry's arms and onto my feet. She hugged me tightly, as if I was never going to see her again.
"I knew I shouldn't have let you go alone!" Her words were a little slurred and her breath smelt of alcohol.
"I'm fine, don't worry. Calm down." I reassured her. She still had alcohol in her system, making her a little over emotional. Rubbing her back, I kept on telling her that I was alright now and that she didn't have to worry. We got a police escort to take her home, despite her protesting. She wanted to stay with me so that I had a friend. I made things worse by saying I wanted Barry with me, making her feel pushed away but at this moment in time, I didn't have time for petty arguments.
"She could have stayed you know." Barry said to me as his arms wrapped around me again.
"I didn't want her here whilst she was drunk. She would have made a fool of herself." I explained, placing my head in the crook of his neck."Besides, you keep me calm, I feel safe when I'm with you."
We were waiting for twenty more minutes before West came over to us. He told us that we were to wait for him in his office whilst he sorted something out. As he left, Barry took my hand, leading me to Joe's office. There was a woman standing in front of the door, looking a little nervous.
"Barry!" She smiled, hugging him. He hugged her with one arm whilst the other stayed holding onto mine. As they pulled away, she smiled at me and I sent one back.
"Oh, Bethan this is Iris West, Joe's daughter. We grew up together. Iris, this is Bethan, she's the woman who was being...uh, stalked." Barry introduced us.
"Hi, I'm sorry about my appearance, but uh...well I was in a bit of trouble." I said to her.
"That's absolutely fine. As long as you are ok, then that's all that matters. Barry, have you see my dad?" She asked.
"He should be here soon. We're supposed to be meeting with him."
"Thanks, I'll meet him out here then."
Saying our goodbyes, we entered Joe's office, sitting on the chairs in front of the desk. For moment, there was silence, until I decided to ask Barry something.
"So, you two grew up together? That's a very good relationship you have there." I smiled.
"Well, I lived with them." His smile disappeared.
"Oh...what about you're parents?" This was getting personal too quickly.
"Well uh....my mom was killed by something, I don't know what it was. But it was like me, I mean my superpowers. But who would believe a kid babbling on about superpowers? My dad was thought to have murdered her and was sent to prison. He's still there."
I was shocked at what he had just told me. I never would have thought he would tell me something so personal this fast in our upcoming friendship.
"Barry, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to force that out of you."
"It's fine, really. I was going to have to tell you at some point."
