Dragon on a hill

Could a land ever be more mystic?

Hidden behind lush forests and mountain valleys

Ingenious creators and inventors abound

Never astray from trials and tribulations

Ascension after centuries of fall

Beginning along the wetlands of the Yellow

Every village banded around their highest

In time the villages became grander and bigger

Joined and combined to form a realm

Indecisiveness led to war

Not one but many fought for control

Gone were the many in place of the first empire

X marked the spot for raiders and invaders

Ingenious tactics could not stop the flood

At best they held out then fell before the conqueror

Trinkets of gold, jewels and cloth were lavish

Against all odds surviving the centuries

Not one but many emperors followed

Greatness in heaven was their mission

Questions of happiness or duty and honor

In a time when all was in upheaval

No stone was left unturned by progress

Straight out of the frying pan and back into war

Only the will of the strong could stop the bloodshed

Noticeable rulers were far and in between

Ground by enemies inside and out

Mastery of the arts, written, fought, and spoken

Against the world the empire seemed

New nations stood up to the north and east

Crushing defeats became manifest destiny

Hunger for more led to insatiable demands

Under pressure from all sides with no relief

Ripped apart by warlords as in old

Either stand to fight or perish into the night

Pitted against the rising sun came war upon war

United became old foes to the new threat

Beleaguered became victorious after decades of fighting

Lamenting from across the strait at the other's gaze

In time progress made a new power better than before

Could be for equality but with its own limits
