Is being different that bad?
Different to most people around you?
No and it will never be, and Ten has proved it.
He was born and lived with his family somewhere in Seoul. Ten grew up like how any other kid would. He was given education, things he needed, things he wanted and even things he never expected to receive. His parents took care of him and loved him. He was never treated differently even though he was born like that--
A one and only hybrid.
Hybrids are considered an 'outsider' to humans. They are a 'one-of-a-kind' kind of people. Weirdos, to some just because they are different physically and genetically. It wasn't fair to them but things are just like that. Being downgraded like they aren't part human as well--it was how most hybrids live.
Ten was different. He was more on the tough side. He does get bullied for being an only hybrid in his family but he isn't that weak like other hybrids out there. He speaks up, trash talks them and single-handedly did it. Though his mother doesn't want him to hurt anyone, all Ten wanted to do is let them know that he isn't going to let anyone downgrade him.
Why would he even let them bully him just because he's different? Being different isn't bad.
"Ten!"
The said boy looked around the crowded campus. Ten was in college, freshmen year, and he was feeling lost in the new environment. Well, most humans and hybrids inside this university doesn't know anything yet. Ten was excited and nervous, and it was good to know that his friend enrolled in the same university as him.
"You enrolled here too?" Ten asked.
Taeyong nodded, "Yeah, why not?"
"I thought you'll be studying in Gangnam?" the boy uttered.
"Well, I had to push my mother into the idea of studying here instead, with my best friend."
Ten chuckled, "Don't worry, I'll take care and protect you! No humans shall mess with you."
Taeyong laughed and pats his friend's chest, "I can handle myself."
"But does that mean you're in dorms?"
"Yeah...I need to."
The boy teasingly smiled at him, "Who is your roommate? Is it a...man?"
His friend hummed, "I haven't really met my roommate...Hopefully, he'll be nice."
"Hopefully, he won't be an asshole."
Taeyong nodded, totally agreeing, "Anyway, you want to find your department? I'm finding mine and kind of trying to map things out today."
"Yeah, and ditch class on the first day?"
"You bet."
The campus was, so far, hybrid-friendly to them. All hybrids were freely expressing themselves and lets their physical features, like ears, show in public. Ten did wear a cap to hide his black cat ears though. He got used to it since it isn't fun when some pulls and plays with them. Taeyong has a beanie on to cover up his gray cat ears as well.
