Ready For Takeoff

As you step out of the plane, you feel a rush of hot air. It is a summer day at the air force base, and your flight suit doesn't help with the excruciating heat. You drive the plane over to the hangar, fill it up with gas, and clock out. It was a good day today.

Just as you are about to leave, you hear a loud noise coming from the airstrip. "Hey Rhodes, should there be a plane landing right now?" you ask with uncertainty.

Colonel Rhodes chuckles as the aircraft becomes visible. Only it's not an aircraft, it's small, and wait, is that Iron Man?

As a major in engineering, Tony Stark is kinda a big deal. His brilliance and tech cannot be matched. When he lands, Rhodes laughs. "Tony, how you been?"

"Well, after this grand entrance, I'll say he's doing well," you say with a smirk.

"And who might you be?" Tony asks as his mask retracts into his suit. Why had I never noticed how charming and witty he was?

"Oh, uh, s-sorry. I'm (Y/N), (Y/L/N). And I'm pretty sure I already know who you are." Did you actually just stutter? You've never stuttered in your life. What are you doing?  You asked yourself.

"Nice to meet you, hun. You a pilot?" He asked, and he seemed genuinely interested.

"In training. Just did my first solo flight. That's what happens when you actually work hard to achieve your dream."

"Whose hard work do you think this suit was made out of?" He spun around, showing off his red and gold armor. "Now sweetheart, what is a girl as hot as you doing in the Air Force Academy?" he said, reaching out to grab my nametag.

I swatted his metal arm away. "Jeez, someone's flirtatious today, and unlike you, I'm not trying to get into everyone's pants." Tony laughed,  and shrugged, all but admitting he was a heartbreaker and a playboy.

"Don't fool yourself. He's like this everyday. Don't let him bother you," said Rhodes.

You change the subject. "Now, Mr. Stark, why are you here anyways?"

"Please, hot stuff, call me Tony. I wanna to talk to Rhodie here about some missiles and some new suits I've designed. Just another casual day in the office," he said, clearly trying to impress you. He and Colonel Rhodes walk towards the main storage building, talking about God knows what.

You sigh, and head towards the parking lot. Why was every guy like that? Why did he have to be so arrogant and rude? But also, why am I  still thinking about him, you thought to yourself. You were never the boy-crazy, head over heels type. As you walk, you trip over a crack in the pavement. As if this half hour couldn't get any worse. To make things even better, you're drenched in sweat from the summer heat.

When you start your car, you aim the cold air onto your face. It feels so nice, and you aren't paying any attention to where you're going until you hear a THUMP.

No, no, no! This can't be happening!

Did I really just hit someone with my car?!?

As you get out to look at the damage, lying on the ground, it's none other than Tony friggin Stark.

He lets out a heavy grunt. "You should probably look where you're going next time. How about that, a pilot, who is trained to fly planes, can't drive!" He starts bursting into laughter.

"I am SO sorry!" is all you can manage to say as you help him up.

"I was waiting for my limo to take me back to the avengers building, but it looks like you owe me now." he said with a sly smile.

I guess it was the least I could do, considering I almost ran over him. "Fine, but are you sure you're okay?"

He dismisses my worry with the wave of a hand, and as I help him to the passenger seat, he says, "No way are you driving me home, speed demon. YOU'RE riding shotgun. I'll drive."

There's no arguing with Tony Stark, so he gets in the driver's seat of my old Jeep and starts driving.
