"How's your arm?" tanong ng doktor kay Gerald habang ini-examine siya.

"Good," he answered.

"And your leg? Do you feel this?" at pinitik nito ang tuhod nya. "Any numbness?"

"It's fine."

"Stand up and try to walk slowly."

He did what was told.

"Ganyan nga, slowly, hijo. Yan, very good. You're doing well, your body is recovering very fast. Few more days and you'll be back to normal. You have to use a crutch for the meantime para hindi naman ma-force masyado ang binti mo. Come back here one week after and we'll take a look again of your arm and leg. If all goes well, you'll be good as new."

"Yeah, new," he sarcastically repeated the word.

The doctor said his body will be as good as new.

Can it be the same for his heart?

Can it be possible to ask for a new heart? Heart that will beat only to help his air and blood circulate in his body. Heart that will beat just for the sake of beating, nothing more. Heart that will have no feeling, no emotion.

He would like that.

Or better yet, don't ask for a new one. His heart has already died anyway.
