Song: I Love You by Billie Eilish
Word Count: 1421-
"Okay team, we've got a big call coming through now, all hands are on deck with this - this is a mass casualty event and we are going into the heart of this," Bobby called out-earning everyone's attention.
"I want Hen and Chim to be on the ambulance, you need to get as many people treated - we've got back up there, waiting for the call from yourselves for when they need to step in and when it is safe to do so. Buck, Eddie I want you to go into the building, look for anyone who may be still in the building - only do this if it's safe to do so okay? I will be talking with other stations to work around this. Please all be safe - if you need a time out just tell me and we will send others in. Don't do anything stupid, because we're all going home after this Okay! Now let's go!"
Everyone nodded before running to the trucks, getting ready for one of the biggest calls of the day and probably the biggest they would see for the whole week.
"Hey Buck, how are we going to go into this" Eddie snapped, he had been in a mood with Buck since the start of the week, he had got fed up with how reckless he had been recently and he didn't want his best friend to nearly die... again.
"I was going to ask you that actually, I thought you could take charge of what we do in this one." Buck mumbled not looking at Eddie.
For the first time in the two years of Eddie working at the 118, this was the first time he had seen Buck be this quiet.
"Fine, we go in there, we track where we're going and we're doing this together, no running off being the hero you think you are Buck... I can't deal without you being injured again." Eddie mumbled the last part, in hope Buck didn't hear it.
Buck had actually heard the whole thing, which made his heart skip a beat - Buck couldn't help but think that Eddie actually cared for him.
No one in the 118 realised Buck was Gay, he would tell them he had met up with girls for a one night stand but he never really did relationships - he was actually at bars meeting up with men in hope to start for a relationship, but it would never work - it was always a night fling.
Buck acted tough in front of his friends, but when he was alone that was when the vulnerable side of Buck came out. His sister Maddie, was the only one who knew Buck had a vulnerable side, seeing it many times as he cried over a relationship not working out.
She knew exactly who he needed and what he needed, all he needed was Eddie - she knew he had a boy crush on him, but never really took into consideration that maybe Eddie would feel the same.
"Let's get in there Buck - we've got over half an hour to try and get as many people out as we can. Remember Buck we're doing this together, no running off okay?" Buck nodded in response as he clipped on his helmet putting the visor down, before following Eddie into the burning building.
Time was going quick and both Eddie and Buck had noticed, they had only found three people, they knew there was more it was just finding them was the hardest part, knowing they could be trying to get out themselves was hard, they could be in places they've already looked at or they had collapsed somewhere.
"Eddie! We need to get out, we only have five minutes left - we still have to exit the building too!" Buck shouted, as he watched the flames behind them, the fire was still raging - which showed that they still hadn't got the fire under control outside the building.
"Okay! Okay! We'll get out now!" Eddie turned to look where they had just come from. "Shit, Buck we need to keep going forward and find another route out - if we go through that way... We will be burnt to toast man!" Buck quickly agreed as they picked up their pace, checking how much oxygen they actually had left.
"I've got an opening! Buck your going first"
"What about you! Surely you should go first! You can't get injured!" Buck argued back, making Eddie roll his eyes.
"We will both make it out of here okay! Everything will be fine - I will be out straight after you." Eddie smiled, making Buck blush slightly. They looked up to see a team lowering a line for one of them to connect to with their harnesses on.
"No Eddie we are a team! I know what you would do! Please can we just go up together!"
"Buck!" Eddie warned, "It couldn't hold us both! Why are you acting as if this is the end of the world!"
"Because I love you Eddie! I am crushing hard over you! That's why I don't want to leave you in here for more than two seconds!"
Both Eddie and Buck stood in silence as they both processed what Buck just blurted out.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said anything" Buck went to continue but he was faced with Eddie kissing him quickly, their helmets hit first - making Eddie move more to the side so he could kiss Buck more freely.
What Buck hadn't known was as Eddie kissed him he had attached the line to Buck.
"Guess we needed that" Eddie smirked as he pulled back... "I'm sorry Buck" Eddie huffed, Buck went to say something but realised when he felt a pull on his back.
"No! Eddie! Don't do this! What are you going to do! Grab a hold of me and we can go up together!" Buck panicked as he tried to loosen the line So he could try and get it off but nothing was working.
"Hey, you know me - I will get out of this! I will see you soon Okay! Chris needs us both, so we will both get out!"
"Fine! Promise me now you will get out!" Buck finally gave up, hugging his best friend tight.
"I promise! Now go!"
"Okay" Was all Buck choked out before holding onto the line.
Eddie watched for a short time as Buck was helped out into safety, once he knew he was safe he carried on going through the building - looking for another exit, the rooms were getting hotter by the second, making Eddie more aware that time was running out, before this whole part of the building was going to be up in flames.
"Eddie! Eddie, we can see you! Just come towards the right side of the building, there is an opening, we're going to be able to get your way through it!" Eddie heard over his radio.
"Okay boss, i'm on my way out now"
Eddie ran towards the right side of the building, trying to hold his breath as his oxygen was running low. With one last push he saw the opening, running closer and closer seeing Buck standing there smiling.
"It's nice to see you all again" Eddie coughed as Buck ran up to him, giving him a tight hug.
"Don't you ever do anything like that again - when I mean we're sticking together I mean it." Buck laughed looking into Eddie's eyes.
"Why don't you come round tonight and see Chris, I'm sure he would like to spend a night with his Buck."
"Yeah, I guess I could use seeing Chris again." Buck smiled, hearing hen and Chimney behind them chuckling. "What?""You sure you two are just friends, with how you're still holding onto each other and practically falling in love with each other just by staring into each other's eyes... I think there's something going on that we don't know about" Hen chuckled, as Buck and Eddie pulled away from each over blushing.
"There's nothing between us hen, honestly" Eddie smirked. Those words made Bucks heart drop, was he serious, or was he just covering for himself.
"Haha.. yeah, there's nothing between us." Buck rolled his eyes before he made his way back over to the trucks.
Hen watched the pair walk away in opposite directions before turning to Chimney with a smirk. "I think we just caught them out big time."
"You can say that again."
