Hi guys! Sorry for the late update, but I've just been so swamped with school. The picture on top is an alternate cover I made for the book just for fun! This chapter is quite angsty, and this is the first time I have a song that I've written in a book, so I hope you like it!

Endless Promises

Felix felt like he was floating. His head was in the clouds and he had no intention of coming back down to earth, and he knew his moms could tell by the way their lips twitched when they talked to him, and they gave him questioning looks. But for that moment, Felix didn't really want to keep it to himself. Because they liked him too. They weren't ready for a relationship, which was fine, but they liked him! And that little smidge of information was enough for Felix to feel like he was up in the air. Tarla had texted him to pick up balloons for Aeron's party that their oldest sister had ordered, and Jupiter had texted him something too, but he hadn't looked at it yet. Instead he didn't go online and said that he was asleep because he was too nervous to text them. So when he finally woke up, he gripped his phone, and hesitantly opened their message, letting out a soft giggle. His heart felt full.

What was he so worried for? Somehow Jupiter always seemed to make him smile, and he definitely wasn't complaining.

    Jupiter's response was surprisingly fast, which made Felix bite his lip.

Good morning!! What class do you have first?

Felix texted them for a while, the smile on his face never leaving, as he got ready for school and went down to see his moms. When he walked in, he felt his smile drop a little, something was wrong. He could see it in the way his mom was leaning against the counter, her coffee abandoned next to her, and the quiet music playing through his mama's phone, his mama pouring a glass of orange juice standing close to his mom.

"What's wrong?" he asked softly, setting his bag down next to the table, and moving to get a glass to pour himself a glass of orange juice.

"Nothing," his mom said, just giving him a small smile, that Felix knew wasn't genuine. He glanced at his mama who didn't say anything. He heard Dani running into the room, and he gave her a hug leaving his mama to talk to her while he went towards his mom.

"Do you wanna talk about it?" he asked softly, taking a sip of his orange juice and setting it next to his mom's coffee cup. His mom gave him a small smile, her eyes glistening a little.

"I'm just so sick of people sometimes," was all she said, taking a small sip of her coffee.

"Was it work?" he asked, already knowing what it was. She nodded, squeezing her eyes shut at the buzz of her phone. Felix glanced at her, and she gave him a nod, letting him glance at the phone. His brow furrowed as he saw the new text. It was one of his mom's co-workers calling someone out, saying something about homophobia, and Felix gripped the phone a bit tighter. He glanced at the name, Hayden. Felix had met him, he'd come over one time and was one of the only one of his mom's co-workers who she was out to. Apparently not everyone his mom worked with was as accepting as Hayden.

"Do you want a hug," he asked her softly, setting the phone away from both of them. She nodded, wrapping her hands around him, and he held her. He just wished there was a way that he could just stop it all from happening. His parents were some of the best people he knew, and he didn't know what he'd do without them. The fact that they had to deal with terrible people so often just hurt so bad. And he knew his mom dealt with stuff like this a lot more than she'd tell people and he absolutely hated it.
