The End
"Your birthday was in September?" Wren asked, eyes wide. Jupiter simply shrugged, nodding their head. Felix smiled widely, leaning back against the wall feeling Jupiter's hand shift in his as he shrugged.
"Can't believe we missed it," Quinn mumbled next to him, shaking her head.
"Ya know we could always just celebrate a different day. Like, I don't know, today even," Tarla said, glancing at them for approval.
"I mean I'm down if Jupiter's down," Wren said, glancing at Jupiter.
"It's not really a big deal, we could always celebrate next year. And, we didn't know each other back then," Jupiter shrugged. "But if you guys wanted a reason to celebrate we could do karaoke," they grinned bashfully.
"Yes!" Tarla half-yelled as Jupiter silently laughed next to Felix. Felix grinned widely, his heart feeling so incredibly soft.
"I'll book the place," Wren said, pulling out his phone. "It's not far and they have like the celebration rooms. It's not expensive either!"
----
The lights in the room were blues and purples and greens and the couch was surprisingly soft. Felix grinned as he watched Jupiter pick out the first song from the list of options. He felt his heart warm in his chest as he watched his friends around him. There truly was something magical about celebrating something. They had decided to go for lights that didn't change colors because someone was bound to get a headache. There was a warmth to the dark room and it had nothing to do with the temperature.
Felix turned to see Jupiter gesturing toward him. Felix got up, tilting his head and running his hand through his head. When Felix reached them, they urged him closer.
"I'm gonna sing Lover by Taylor Swift and I think other than When The Leaves Fall this is gonna be our song - that is if you're okay with that," they said softly.
"I definitely am," Felix nodded, laughing lightly. "It's perfect."
Felix sat down and ignored the glances his friends sent him. As the music started to flow out of the speakers Felix felt his heart warm and ignored the "Ooh" his friends echoed. What were they, children? Felix thought fondly.
Felix was pretty sure Jupiter's voice was the loveliest thing he had ever heard. They could read terms and conditions and Felix would be entrapped.
"You're my, my, my, my..." Felix felt his breath catch in his throat. "Lover." Felix was very much completely in love with Jupiter Cales. He was definitely in love. When the song finally ended everyone stood up giving Jupiter a standing ovation and they just laughed, handing the microphone to Nils as they went to hug Felix. Felix smiled widely at them, his eyes glittering like the stars.
They all took turns singing, and the range of genres was wild. It went from the slowest ballad to the most upbeat song and Felix was here for it. Felix never agreed with the phrase "time is not real" more than he did at that moment. Because it had felt like simply a few minutes, but a few hours later the group was leaving the karaoke room.
"Now we need food, and maybe cake?" Tarla asked, glancing at Jupiter.
"The answer to cake is always yes," they said, deadpan. Felix grinned, shaking his head.
"So we should eat somewhere either near cake or somewhere that has good cake," Felix laughed.
"I know a place," Jupiter said softly.
When they showed up at the small cafe Felix felt his heart soften even more if that was possible. The atmosphere, the way it seemed to exude warmth, the decor. All of it seemed to suit Jupiter perfectly. Their clothes seemed to match the coffee shop perfectly. They were finally wearing the skirt they had made and their favorite button-down. The pastel green suited them perfectly and they seemed to glow as they looked up at the sign.
