Introductions and Uno

Felix closed his eyes and let his fingers skim the tops of the keys of the piano. His friends would be there soon, but he might have time for one song. He opened his eyes and reluctantly picked up his hand from the keys to the notebook open across the top where printed music went. He flipped through the pages, stopping on the song he wrote most recently. He glanced at the notes, placing his hands on the starting notes of the song.

The sound of the chords filled the room gently, and he played the notes softly, the rhythm simple and smooth. Each note seemed gentle and hesitant. Slowly it got louder, stronger, and louder until— all of a sudden the music went quiet again. No longer hesitant, but still smooth and clear. Felix glanced at the empty space that he'd left for lyrics, what would even fit? He stopped playing and picked up the pencil, idly spinning in his fingers, when he heard the sound of a knock on his door before it opened.

"Hey," Tarla said, stretching out the word as she walked into the room. Felix smiled as she slouched down into the beanbag next to the piano stool he was sitting on.

"Hey, where's everyone else?" Felix asked as he shut the piano and turned to face her.

"They were right-" she cut off with the sound of Wren, Quinn, and Aeron walking into the room. Aeron sat down cross-legged on the carpet while Quinn and Wren plopped down on the bed. A loud ding made Felix stop suddenly turning towards Aeron, who glanced at his phone. The whisper of a smile spread across his face, and he heard Tarla gasp.

"Aeron are you- it can't be! You just smiled at a text!" Tarla said quickly, scrambling up from the beanbag and falling back in. Felix held back a laugh as she mumbled something under her breath that sounded vaguely like fuck aimed at the beanbag. Aeron shrugged, tucking his phone back into his pocket.

"You don't have to tell us if you don't want to," Felix said slowly, turning to face him.

"Yeah," Wren said quickly. "But if you do decide to tell us, I mean we wanna know." Quinn nudged him, shaking her head. Even though they started dating two months before, they didn't seem to act any different. Maybe years of friendship made their relationship different.

"It's fine," Aeron grumbled, the ghost of a smile still on their face. "It's, well, I may have a boyfriend."

"Oh?" Quinn said, the wisp of a smirk on her face.

"Shut up Quinn," he grumbled, but his eyes twinkled a little, his classic frown on his face again.

"All I said was oh!" She defended, her smirk growing. Aeron raised an eyebrow at her, shaking his head slowly.

"You made fun of me and Quinn for weeks after we got together! You still make fun of us!" Wren said, his eyebrows creasing.

"That's different!"

"If you say so," Felix muttered, smiling a little.

"Aeron! Who is it!" Tarla said loudly before Aeron could respond. His cheeks started to turn red as he blushed.

"Umm well, his name is Nils," they said softly.

"Are you blushing?" Tarla says, grinning widely. Aeron just flipped her off, but their blush deepend. I bit at my lip to stop myself from smiling. Quinn laughed from the bed earning herself the finger from Aeron as well.

"Let's play Uno!" Wren said loudly, glancing at Aeron to see him refusing to look at anyone.

"No, cards against humanity," Tarla said, finally managing to get off of the beanbag.

"We are not playing cards against humanity," Quinn said, her voice low.

"Why not-"

"Do you not remember what happened last time?"
