To the Thrift Store
"What's the plan?" Quinn asked, adjusting her sunglasses. Tarla just shrugged, glaring at her phone while Aeron glanced at her. Whatever was happening had left both of them clearly not happy, but at that moment it seemed okay. Wren just threw an arm around Quinn's shoulder, making her laugh and then squeeze her eyes shut at Wren's cheers. "God I hate you."
"Sure you do. Anyway, yeah does anyone have any ideas? Is Nils coming?" Wren asked, turning to Aeron at the last question.
"No, he's busy. Something with his mom," they said, shrugging.
Felix glanced at Jupiter who had their hair pulled back loosely. Their sunglasses matched their shirt and Felix felt his lips turn up involuntarily.
"We could go thrift shopping," Tarla mused, looking up from her phone.
"That could be fun," Felix shrugged, glancing at Jupiter who was looking at their phone. They suddenly tensed, shoving their phone in their pocket.
"Uh, I have to go," they said quickly, standing up. "Sorry for dipping, but something came up." Before anyone could say anything, they'd already started walking towards their car, pulling their phone out and putting it to their ear. What happened? Felix had never seen Jupiter that freaked out before and he wasn't sure what to do. He texted them a meme that was saved on his phone, hoping it might make them feel a bit better about whatever had happened, but had a feeling they wouldn't respond. There was a beat of silence before Quinn cleared her throat.
"Umm, so thrift shopping?" she asked hesitantly, also glancing at where Jupiter had left.
"Yeah," Felix mumbled, shoving his phone in his pocket, making sure that do not disturb was off. He hoped they would text him back, and if they did, he would have his phone ready. Aeron nodded slowly, while Tarla tucked her phone in her pocket.
"To the thrift store!" Wren laughed softly, trying to clear the tension. Felix could practically feel the tension loosen, as if the foggy cloud between them had faded, but he could sense the worry still gripping onto them.
"Okay, we're gonna do the thing right?" Quinn asked, glancing at Aeron. "At least one outfit made by the others that we have to try?"
"Of course," Aeron scoffed, making Wren laugh. Felix grinned, shaking his head.
"Okay but Felix you can't spend all your money on shit for people," Tarla said, raising his eyebrows at Felix.
"What?" I don't do that-" he cut himself off at the way his friends stopped walking to look at him.
"Fine, fine. Actually my moms said the same thing," he admitted sheepishly, his friends all bursting out in laughter. "But if I see something that I think someones gonna like imma buy it."
"One thing," Wren said, raising his eyebrows. Felix mumbled an okay. "You know you can buy stuff for yourself too right?"
"Maybe. The thing is whenever I'm about to buy something for myself I question if I actually like it about thirty times and then end up not getting it. For other people it's easier. Like- I don't know how to explain it."
"Well how about this, you know that necklace that you look at everytime we go here? Yes we all know about it Felix. Get it for yourself. Like there's a reason you keep looking at it," Quinn hummed turning to him.
"I was gonna get him that for his birthday," Aeron mumbled next to him and Felix let out a sharp laugh.
"Imma finally get it," he sighed, grinning at his friends. Was he really that obvious about it?
