13 - Lights out

Although we all don't really feel safe here and would prefer to be outside or better yet, at home, we still use this place for a moment of rest and try to relax at least a little bit.

Even before we ran the bathtubs full of hot water, my brother and Cheng walked through the station again. And in the process, they noticed that in our exploration, we didn't look at the room at all, which looks like a box with glass windows and was the check-in area.

The two entered the room and found a telephone. Unfortunately, however, that was out of service, unlike the electricity and running hot water here. In addition to keys for all the rooms in this station, there was only a sign-in list and visitor badges in there. Strange that there is not one name on the visitor sign-in list. A thick book and not a single name in it.

But even if there was nothing at the registration itself, there was still a door there that made my brother cheer. It was like some kind of supply store in there. In addition to quite a few unused toothbrushes that were still wrapped, there were also bars of soap, also still wrapped, toilet paper and towels inside. The towels were a little dusty, but with a little vigorous shaking, absolutely still usable.

And then there was a closet, in it were underwear, white shirts and socks. All still new and in their original packaging. Of course, all this came at a good time for us. The only thing we couldn't use and didn't want to use was the toothpaste, because it had expired many, many years ago.

My brother and Cheng then went into one bathroom first, and in the other were Meng Yao, André and Han. André washed Han and carefully cleaned his wound. Oh yes, although the antibiotic must surely have expired 20 years ago, it still seems to be working. Han's fever has continued to drop and he has much longer periods of wakefulness now.

After my brother and Cheng came out of the bathroom, Zhan and I went in there. The other one was where the women went. Then when Zhan and I were in the bathroom, we only let water into one bathtub. There are two, but we wanted to bathe together. So at least we could scrub off each other's dirt too.

And even though I saw Zhan naked in front of me, which was a huge pleasure for me, and I know what I would have loved to do with him, we were just happy to lie in the bathtub and relax. It was like a piece of normalcy. A moment, maybe half an hour or a whole hour, in which we could forget for once where we were and how we got here. And likewise, for the first time, we didn't think about those who might still be wandering around the cave or worse.

After we were freshly bathed, I immediately felt much more comfortable. We put on our "new" clothes, including the ugly jogging suits that smell a little musty, but are clean, and went to the others to hear what my brother and André have planned next.

"Hai Kuan and I have been talking and we think we should stay a few more hours and rest. The women are tired and quite honestly, so are we. We could all sleep in one room, or if our couples prefer, separately. Then you would have some time to yourselves for once." Said André. Zhan and I looked at each other grinning and didn't have to say anything, we wanted a room just for the two of us.

My brother then said, "Once we're all rested up a bit, we're going to look for something to transport Han and Leni better. Then we will put the elevators through a stress test. We'll put as much heavy stuff in there as we can, run it up and down a few times, and then see if we can use the elevators, which would be better for Han and Leni. If we are going to explore the other three stations, we won't leave anyone behind. Because right after that, we want to make sure we get out of here."

"Why do we have to explore the other stations at all? Can't we just see if we can find a way out of here right now? I mean, what do we expect to find at the stations?" Zhan asked, and Yanli agreed with him.
