Never Be Apart

CHAPTER 4

"Oh, you're home already," Mama greeted me with a smile as I walked in. I happily kissed her on the cheek and took her hand to show respect.

"Where's Papa?" I asked, thinking he'd be in the living room watching TV, as usual.

"Oh, your Papa might run for Mayor again. He has so much support, and people say he deserves to be Mayor because of his kindness and leadership skills," Mama replied with a smile. I just smiled and looked around the house again.

"And where's Yunji?" I asked, heading to the kitchen for a drink of water.

"He went with your Papa, you know how it is," Mama said with a chuckle, following me into the kitchen.

"Do you want to eat now, or should we wait for Papa and your brother?" Mama asked cheerfully while patting my hair. I just smiled and shook my head.

"Let's wait, I'll just go up to my room for a bit," I said, and Mama nodded, so I went straight to my room.

After I showered, I came out and told Mama to call me when Papa and Yoon Gi were home because I needed to do some assignments first. She just gave me a thumbs-up.

While I was working at my study table, my cell phone suddenly rang. I thought it was an unknown number, so I didn't answer it right away and continued working.

It rang three times before I decided to answer, as the phone kept interrupting my focus!

"Hello? Who's this?" I asked irritably.

("Your boyfriend") I could sense the smile on the other end, which made me even more annoyed. I sighed and looked away, then slammed the phone on the table and turned it off.

A few minutes later, I finished my assignment, but Mama still hadn't called me. Maybe Papa and Yunji weren't home yet. I lay down on my bed and opened Facebook, which I wish I hadn't done!

My frown deepened, and I threw my phone down on the bed in frustration. I buried my face in my hands, remembering the embarrassment from earlier! What a disaster!
