CHAPTER 34

I couldn't fall asleep right away last night because I kept thinking about Sir Brendon's offer. Now, I look like a mess staring at myself in the mirror, with dark circles under my eyes. I decided to watch some makeup tutorials and woke up early to put myself together.

I was debating whether to accept his offer or not. If I do, I'd be transferred to another company and become a model for their beauty products. We also talked yesterday about the high salary. I wouldn't be too exhausted either, since I'd just be posing and showing off the makeup.

In the end, I decided to accept Brendon's offer. Sir Oswyn said he wouldn't have trouble finding a new photographer because, as he mentioned, many are waiting for my spot to open up. I can't help but feel a little sad that I didn't last a month at this job—just a week, and I'm already moving on. But I guess it's okay, it's a chance to experience something new.

After getting ready, I stared at myself in the mirror for a bit longer. I think I look fine now. I kept everything simple, so I guess this will do.

I was humming as I walked out the door, but I stopped as soon as I closed the gate. There was another car parked in front of our house, and since it wasn't tinted, I could see inside. No one was there, so I thought maybe they just parked there and it was for a neighbor. I was about to walk away when my phone rang. I frowned when I saw it was Sir Oswyn calling.

"Good morning, Sir," I greeted.

"Did you see your car?" he asked, making me raise an eyebrow. I quickly looked at the car parked in front. It was a white Kia. I walked closer while still on the call with him. "Do you like it?" he asked again. I shook my head quickly and stood up straight.

"Sir, I know you're nice, but isn't giving me a car a bit too much?" I said, my voice a mix of surprise and annoyance. He laughed.

"Who said I'm giving it to you? I'm just letting you borrow it for a while. Bring it back to me once you've bought your own," he replied sarcastically. "It's just that I don't want you to be late. Brendon wants you to be there as early as possible before the call time. Use it—it's an order from your former boss. Take care and see you at my office." He hung up before I could even respond!

I slowly approached the car, and it was obviously brand new! I tried opening it and was surprised when it was unlocked. Even the smell inside was so fresh! I carefully sat in the driver's seat, my hands running over the steering wheel. I was gaping in awe while doing it because I couldn't help but be amazed. I reached for the ignition and grinned widely when I felt the key was already there. I glanced at the backseat, and wow, it was spotless! It was definitely brand new!

Luckily, I learned how to drive a while back, because a year after my mom passed away, our driver left too. I guess it was because we couldn't afford to pay him anymore. That's when we all learned to drive, and when we turned 19, we all got our driver's licenses together. The car we had broke down a year ago, so I haven't had anything to drive since then. It's in the junkyard now.
