Yuki's POV

"Former Mayor Vincent Santos and Judge Anselm Anderson were arrested by the police this morning for murder and trial forgery. The police said they would do everything to uncover what the two would receive. Currently, Mr. Anderson has admitted to all his crimes." I sighed after hearing the news.

"It started," I heard Aki whisper as she sat next to me. Another sigh escaped my lips, prompting her to look at me curiously. "Why do you seem so down?" she asked, her brow furrowed in concern.

"I'm just nervous. What if we lose again?" That question had been swirling in my mind, making it hard for me to feel happy about what I was hearing. She playfully shoved me on the shoulder, which only irritated me more.

"C'mon! Just trust me! We're going to win!" she insisted, her enthusiasm not quite reaching me.

I nodded absentmindedly. "By the way, don't you have work to attend?" I asked, puzzled by her presence at my place at this hour. She just shrugged and smiled, so I let it go.

"I resigned. Did you forget already? Anyway, when is the trial?" she asked, glancing at the TV. I just shrugged in response and stood up to grab a glass of water. "Are you going to see Oswyn?" I was startled when she suddenly followed me, her question catching me off guard. I raised an eyebrow at her.

"No. Why? Do you want to see him?" I tried to sound teasing, but my nervousness got the better of me. She looked away, avoiding my gaze.

"I was just asking. You're so suspicious!" She looked guilty, and I couldn't help but make a face. She playfully hit me on the arm, and I raised an eyebrow, but she fell silent.

As I made my way back to the living room, my phone suddenly rang. I was surprised to see an unknown number. I turned to Aki, who had followed me and was now peering at the caller ID. She gestured for me to answer, so I took a deep breath and brought the phone to my ear.

"Hello?" I said cautiously, unsure of what to expect. The line was quiet, and I continued to stare at Aki, who looked just as confused as I felt.

("Hello,") I suddenly felt a chill run down my spine upon hearing his voice again. It was familiar, and I knew exactly who it was, making me angry at the sound of it.

"How did you get my number?" I asked tersely.

("It's not important. Watch the news now,") he ordered, prompting me to look back at the TV. I grabbed the remote and turned up the volume.
