Katuski POV:

It had been a month since I started at UA, and I was already the best hero in the class.

"Bakugou..." Floaty Round Face hesitantly said, "Um... Mr. Aizawa said he wanted to speak with you... after class." She, who sat behind me, had just come back to her seat from talking with our teacher.

"Tch. Tell him I'm busy!" I snapped back. I didn't have time to deal with lousy extras like Round Face and Narcolepsy.

"H-he says it's urgent!"

"What does he want?!"

"I don't know!" She squeaked, "He just told me to tell you that he-"

"What're we in middle school?! He confessing to me behind the gym or something?!" I snapped. She was really getting on my nerves. If it was Shitty Hair instead, well then I'd be all for it, but not damn Round Face or Narcolepsy.

"I doubt it." stoic Earphone Jack-ass intruded. "You're half Mr. Aizawa's age. Also, he's very rational. He wouldn't go out of his way for something as irrational as a confession." She sat next to me, but I had noticed her desk inching farther each day.

"It was a fucking joke, jackass," I growled at her.

"It wasn't that funny," She muttered.

"I MAY NOT BE FUNNY BUT AT LEAST I'M WIRELESS!" I lost my cool and shot up out of my chair. I let small sparks come out of my hand and almost set her hair on fire. "SO SHUT UP AND MIND YOUR OWN FUCKING BUSINESS!" I roared.

"Bakugou, sit down." the lifeless mutter came from the front of the classroom. Fuckin' Narcoleptic Kitty Bitch.

Reluctantly, I dropped back into my chair and ground my teeth together.

"So what?" I grumbled, staying behind after class. I had propped my feet up on the invisible girl's chair. The last time I did this, I kicked her since I couldn't see her uniform from behind the chair.

Mr. Aizawa sighed deeply and mumbled, "Get your feet off the chair."

"Why?"

"...never mind, I can't make you so I won't try," He caved. "I want to talk to you about your behavior as a hero. Or as an aspiring one, anyway. You treat others with a lack of respect and act like you are the best hero there has ever been. All you care about is being first. About being the best. You don't care about the actual hero part of being a hero. That is why your other teachers and I are concerned. We want all of you to become heroes, and we'd be undoubtedly proud if one of you become the #1 hero, but that isn't why we heroes do what we do. We do it to help the citizens that cannot help themselves. You seem to have blipped over that part."

"Yeah, yeah, I got it. Play nice, be humble, and be boring," I snorted, "I don't give a shit about that."

"But you should. This behavior could be what stops you from becoming a pro hero. I'm telling you this because I believe that you can improve as a hero," he gave me a firm nod and continued, "And, acting in a kind, approachable manner will increase your chances of becoming the #1 hero considerably."

He added that last bit and left. I watched him leave and remembered Deku. Ew. But, the nerd told me something that really stuck with me. It was when he asked me to come to the playground and we fought. He said: Nobody may want me to be a hero, but nothing will EVER make YOU ONE! And the way he said it was as if he'd been waiting to say it for a very long time. I never really thought about that until today.

"Deku... I'm going to be a hero," I whispered to myself, "just watch me. I'll be your hero." I curled my fingers into my palm, forming a fist. "You'll say 'that's Kacchan. I knew him!' and you'll wave to me from the crowd. You'll see." I'll be the #1 hero... and you'll regret that you said what you did.

Later, at home:

"KATSUKI! INKO MIDORIYA'S HERE!" The old hag screamed.

"I DON'T GIVE A SHIT!" I responded. In my hand, my pencil snapped, splinters flying.

"SHE WANTS TO KNOW WHERE IZUKU IS!"

That made me freeze. Where was Deku? I hadn't seen him since he came to give me the present. Strange. But, if Mrs. Midoriya didn't know where he was... then where is he?

I got up off my ass and went downstairs. I turned the corner out of the staircase and saw the old hag and Mrs. Midoriya. The latter was near tears, and the old hag was stroking her hair, calming her unsuccessfully.

"I...Izuku..." She sniffled, "H-he...s-s-s-said he was goinggg t-to a f-friend's hous-se... but he hasn't come home!!!" She wept, clinging to her friend.

"You're his only friend." The old hag snapped, "Where is he?"

"We aren't fucking friends!" I corrected, "Besides, I haven't seen him in a month! Who knows- he probably joined a yakuza gang." I muttered, but Mrs. Midoriya burst into tears again.

"Katsuki!" The old hag snapped.

"Who knows?! That nerd doesn't have any friends anyway!" I snapped, "Besides, he's a mama's boy, so he'll come home eventually!" I shoved my hands into my pockets and turned to leave.

However, I wasn't getting off so easily. "Katsuki, go find him!" The hag demanded. I would have said no, but Mrs. Midoriya gave me a pleading look. She was scared out of her wits for this nerd. I didn't have anything against her, so it felt unfair for me to say no just because of who's asking.

"Please..." Mrs. Midoriya whimpered, "Please find Izuku...for me..."

"Tch." I stormed out of the apartment and whipped out my phone. I scrolled through my contacts until I found his number. I hadn't called him since our second year of middle school. It had been a prank call. I pressed the number and listened to it ring for a while as I jogged down the stairs.

"Hello?"

"Dammit, Deku, where the hell are you?" I snapped, "Your mom's blubbering in tears in our apartment, and the old hag screamed her fucking head off!"

"Ahhh... I missed you too," He chuckled, "Well, I'm with my friends-"

"You don't have any friends!"

"Oh, I do. I'm alright. Everything is fine. But if you really want to know where I am, turn on the news." After he said that, he gave a laugh that sounded almost sinister.

"The hell're you..."

"Channel 15. See you from the other side of the screen, Kacchan! Oh, and one more thing: Know your friends, but know your enemies better." He gave me that advice and hung up.

Hesitantly, I pulled up the news: channel 15, like he said. Across the top was the headline: NEW RISING VILLAIN DEKU BURNS DOWN RESTAURANT; KILLS 50 INNOCENTS AND ONE PRO HERO!

Deku...?!
