Remember Me ( Sequel to Paradise to Disaster)

Chapter 4

The following morning Ben woke up and looked over to his right and looked at his wife. Everything was perfect. This was his family and he couldn't be happier about it. He wanted to keep his family safe. He would protect them at all costs. He left his room with Mal to check on the nursery where his precious child was peacefully sleeping. He stood there and admired her for a few moments before returning to himself and Mal’s room. 

" Good morning " Mal said still half asleep

" Morning " He replied

Mal knew her husband pretty well and she knew he was keeping something from her. After everything they had been through to get to where they are now, she couldn’t blame him but she didn’t want him to be facing whatever this was alone. They were a team after all. None of them would still be here if it wasn’t for their significant other.

" Ben? "

" Yes, Mal " 

" What's wrong? I know you're hiding something "

Ben hesitated and nodded

" What is it? " Mal asked

" I don't know.... yet. The council have called an urgent meeting we must attend at 11 "

" Don't worry " Mal reassured him " Whatever it is, we got this, together "

Ben kissed her forehead

" How did I get so lucky? "

He kissed her passionately

" Come on, let's get ready " Mal said cutting him off

Mrs. Potts and her son, Chip offered to look after Adriana during the council meeting. She and her son were a close family friend and even after the curse was lifted off of Beast, they stuck around the castle and helped raise Ben when he was a child. 

Ben and Mal walked into the meeting room and were greeted by the various royals. It seemed urgent as this meeting was called last minute and they all were here. Something was up. 

Ben spoke up

“ What has called upon this urgent meeting ? “

Fairy Godmother stood up

“ Auradon is in danger. Some Villain, we have no idea who; as of now. They are casting a curse and it seems they are succeeding. The curse is already in Auradon but all they need to do is activate it and then Auradon is in danger “ 

Mal sighed

“ This is all your fault, “your majesties”. This is why the barrier shouldn’t have come down. You are endangering us, yourselves, everyone !! “ Queen Leah stood up and snapped

“ Calm down, everyone “ Ben said

He was afraid but as their king and their leader, he couldn’t let them see his fear for the kingdom. Mal held his hand underneath the table in reassurance as if to say that everything would be alright.

“ Fairy Godmother, the curse? What will it do? “ Ben asked
Fairy Godmother paused. Mal remained silent. The remaining royals waited impatiently.

“ There is no way to tell until it is too late “ Fairy Godmother looked apologetic

“ Can we stop it? “ Mal asked

“ As of now, we may be too late to stop it and we don’t know what it will do so there is no way for us to prepare “ 

Tensions arose in the meeting room. Ben was angry. He couldn’t have his happily ever after, could he? There was always something and someone he cared about was always in danger. Auradon wasn’t safe for anyone as long as these threats continued to exist. He felt like he failed as a king, as a friend, as a father, as a son and as a husband. There was nothing he could do to protect those he cared about. Maybe happily ever afters didn’t exist……

Hours later, Mal found Ben in his office. He was stressed out with worry, Mal brought Adriana with her to help calm him down.

“ I missed you “ he said

“ I only saw you a few hours ago “ Mal said “ Ben, please don’t worry about this”

“ I wish I could, Mal “ Ben said “ How can I not worry when I don’t know what will happen? I need to know no matter what happens …. You will be safe “

“ Ben… we’ll be fine. You will too. You will always have me no matter what happens “

“ I love you, Mal. So much “

“ I love- “
There were huge vibrations coming from around. Something Auradon had never seen before. Ben knew what it meant, he pulled Mal and his daughter into a tight hug. He didn’t want to ever let go. He knew one thing, the curse was here. He had a bad feeling about all of this and he knew they had a difficult journey ahead of him…..

Flashback

Ella had awoken. Today would be a very good day. Today would call for celebrations. Today was the beginning of her getting what she wanted and Mal would no longer be an issue. She laughed. Word had gotten out about her curse. She presumed that fairies could feel a change in the magic in the atmosphere. That made everything better. Everyone was fearful and panicking. Just like she hoped. She couldn’t believe that this was actually happening and nobody suspected a thing. They all assumed it was a villain. Auradon hadn’t learnt it’s lesson with Audrey that villains can be the good guys and the good guys can be the villains. Everything was going according to plan. She had everything she needed, she just had to wait for the right moment.

Hours later, she decided it was now or never. She casted the curse and she watched with amazement and she witnessed the smoke containing the curse travel throughout Auradon.

She made her way to Castle Beast and she watched the smoke enter the castle. 

“ Goodbye Bal, it was nice while it lasted “ She cackled to herself

Soon everything and everyone blacked out and everything soon will have changed……….
