Chapter 21

" No matter what happens, let me promise you something " Ben said holding his loved ones hand

" Ben, you don't- " Mal interrupted

Mal may have not told Ben about how she was feeling but he could read her like a book. The truth is she had let some of her classmates words get to her. She didn't think  she was what Ben needed or wanted as his consort.

" No, believe me I need to " Ben said " Please don't interrupt me until I'm done, okay? "

" Okay " She hesitated

" What you and I have is different from any other relationship I've had before, you and I love each other, you actually love me for who I am unlike anyone else, you make me a better person, without a doubt you are my soulmate and I intend to spend the rest of my life by your side " Ben smiled looking into her green eyes

" Ben, that's so.... I'm so lucky to have you. Thank you " She said as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her into a warm embrace

" Actually I'm the lucky one, you see you let me love you and that is something I will never take for granted " Ben said

Ben pressed a kiss against her hand

" And Whatever you have gotten into your head just know that none of it is true, I love you so much and whenever you want to talk about it, you know I'm here any time, day or night. I'm just a call away "

" I love you, Ben " Mal said and pressed a loving kiss against his soft lips

" I love you too " he replied after pulling apart from his girlfriend

" We are endgame " he added " The only future I can see is one with you "

" Your highness " One of the lesser known fairies said

Ben jolted out of his seat. He was quite nervous. Obviously they had to take a risk and there was a chance that it wouldn't work and that he would lose her forever. They had to try though. They couldn't give up that easily.

" She's awake and she wants to see you "

" Is she okay? " Ben asked

" Find out for yourself " the fairy replied

Ben nodded and wandered down the hallway until he made his way to Mal's room.

" Mal "

It had worked. She looked almost the same except for a change in hair colour. Her once vibrant purple hair was now blonde. He didn't care, she would always be his purple haired feisty princess.

" Ben " she replied " Are you okay?"

Ben chuckled

" You nearly died and you are asking me if I'm okay "

Mal smiled

" To answer your question, I'm much better now. How about you? "

Mal bit her lip

" I don't know, what happened? "

Ben sat at the end of her hospital bed.

" What do you remember? "

" Passing out " she laughed

" Okay " Ben said before he went on to explain everything that had went down in the last number of hours. He included what Fairy Godmother had told them about Mal's curse and what the Fairy council decided to do to save her.

" Oh "

" yeah " Ben sighed

" And Ella? " Mal asked

" My guards called me about an hour ago, she's being held at the dungeon in our castle until her trial and after that we'll decide her punishment " Ben explained

" Is everything back to normal? "

" As normal as it can be " he laughed

Ben held Mal's hand as they sat in silence for a few moments.

" Did you know? "

Mal turned her head towards him

" About what? "

Ben frowned

" You know what I'm talking about "

Mal squeezed his hand for comfort

" the possibility was there. I had to take that risk. I'm sorry. I couldn't bear to tell you "

" Its okay but please never risk yourself again "

" I can't promise that "

Ben gave her a confused look

" I'm a mother now, I will do anything to protect our little one even if that means sacrificing myself and before you say anything I know you would do the same "

" You're right, Mal " Ben said " Nothing like this should ever happen again "

" Magic is no longer a problem,  you know what? since you invited me to Auradon I've realised it does so much more harm than good. There was a reason it was discouraged. If we had magic on the isle so many of us wouldn't have survived " Mal sighed

" What now? " Ben asked to change the topic as both of them felt a bit uncomfortable

Mal bent over a kissed him on the forehead

" Once Ella's trial is over and her punishment is taken care of, we will be a family and rule the kingdom together our way " Mal said with pride

" That sounds perfect "

" Nothing will ever separate us " Mal rested her head against Ben's shoulder

" I could never forget you, no matter what spell she uses "

" I've had quite the impact on you " Mal teased

" That you have, my dear " Ben laughed

Ben pulled her into a passionate kiss filled with love.

" You and me? " he asked

" Forever and Ever " she smiled before pressing another kiss against Ben's lips
