The Barracks

Hange let Moblit ride with me to the training barracks, luckily the barracks weren't too far so Moblit would be back before it was too late. We rode in silence for a good portion of our ride until Moblit decided to break the silence.

"I remember my cadet days, they weren't fun" Moblit laughed, "long days, short nights but I made some friends which was nice, most of them I haven't seen in a while" he trailed off, I looked over at him, "oh, don't worry, they aren't dead, they just all joined the Garrison regiment" 

"Why didn't you join with them?" I asked him, "well, when the higher-ups came to our graduation, we were supposed to pick our regiment, that's where I saw Hange for the first time, they came with Commander Erwin, I was so interested in the science experiments they talked about and I couldn't move my feet, everyone around me was walking away but I stayed, I needed to know what was out there"

"So, that's why you're their assistant," I said, he nodded, "I was the only one wild enough to trust Hange's tactics," Moblit laughed a little. I shook my head at him, "I don't think that's the only reason you're their assistant," I said, he looked at me confused, "what I mean is, I think you like Hange," Moblit shook his head, "I think you do, you're the only one that can calm Hange down and the only one that will put up all of their crazy experiments," I looked over and a small blush crept up on his face, he stuttered trying to prove me wrong. That is when I knew I was right, he did like Hange, but I figured he wouldn't do anything about it.

"Hey Woah," he started after a couple of moments of silence, "look who's talking! Jenny, am I wrong in saying you have a thing for Armin Arlert?" He asked me, I felt my cheeks heat up, "ugh, no" I yelled, he laughed, "no way, you do! It's obvious, hey look, you're blushing and smiling," I shook my head, I didn't even notice the smile on my face. I thought about the kiss Armin and I shared before I left, it was nice, his lips were soft. I didn't know when I would see him next, I wish I had kissed him again. I decided I wouldn't let myself forget how his kiss felt, I didn't want to forget. We rode a little more, I kept pestering Moblit about his crush on Hange but he kept rolling his eyes and denying it. I wanted to tell him to do something about it but we ran out of time and had arrived at the training barracks. The sun hadn't set completely yet and there were still people out doing some training.

"Well, Jenny, here we are, you're new home for the time being," Moblit said, we jumped off our horses and tied them back up, "come on, let's go find the Commandant," I nodded and followed him. We walked over to a man standing, he was watching the cadets train, they were working on ODM training. Moblit tapped him on the shoulder, "Commandant Sannes?" the man turned around and glared at us, I heard Moblit gulp.

"This must be our new Cadet, Jenny Zhonya is it? I've heard a lot about you" he said, I nodded, the commandant turned and shouted, "Cadets, gather around, we're going to introduce you to our newest addition" 

"This is my cue to head out," Moblit whispered in my ear, I turned around, "wait, Moblit, no, you can't just leave me" he didn't hear me and kept walking out of the base. I took a deep breath and turned back to the commandant. He was walking in and out of the lines of recruits, he was judging their lines and yelling at them to fix their formation. He turned back towards me, "this is Jenny Zhonya, Cadet Zhonya, this is your class, you are now a part of the 107th Cadet Corps" I looked around at the group, I did my best to not look scared, I knew more than they did, I had actual battle experience. Why the hell would Commander Erwin send me back here?

"Okay, enough with the welcome wagon, back to training, Jenny come with me, we need to talk" I nodded, the cadets went back to training and I followed Sannes. I followed him into his office, he sat down at the desk and I took a chair across from him. 

"you might be wondering why Commander Erwin sent you here" I looked up at him and nodded, "well, he didn't tell me much about you in his letter but I know you've been fighting, he wants you to learn about the titans, as well as other fighting skills, like using a gun. Now, I know you've been fighting titans for a while and you seem to be quite knowledgeable. For that reason, I initially refused to have you here, however, Erwin insisted, so I said yes, but not before cutting a deal. You will stay here and train for a little while, however, you can take your final tests whenever you would like to and once you have passed them all you will be free to graduate. I don't want to deprive the Scouts of a skilled soldier like yourself so tomorrow you will take the final test for ODM training and Titan killing, which will free up time for you to work on other skills. You will be able to sit out of ODM training to study for the written exams as well as the other physical exams. You will learn hand-to-hand combat, you will learn how to use a gun and you will learn what it means to be a soldier and have comrades"
