Guten tag readers, today we are doing something different.  I was looking over this book and noticed that it is mostly filled with countryhuman stuff, which it wasn't supposed to be, so I'm fixing that.  I play D&D with a few friends and our DM had us write a short story for the characters we were playing.  Mine is a Dragonborn warrior named Osiris and this is the backstory I wrote for him, enjoy.

It was a hot day in the desert country of Oprela when Osiris and his unit were patrolling in a large town where some suspicious activity has been reported, Osiris was named leader of his unit and took his role very seriously.  He considered himself a very good and fair leader, and his team rarely ever failed a mission, but on this fateful day, it will change Osiris forever.

As the unit was patrolling they noticed a goblin stealing from a potions shop. After a short chase, the soldiers had cornered the goblin and detained him.   Unfortunately, no one spoke goblin so they couldn't ask him why he was stealing potions, but they did find out that the potions were all unstable and were prone to exploding.  One of the soldiers suggested that the goblin was working for the people that they were after, but Osiris dismissed this, as he stated that goblins weren't smart enough to work with criminals or to use potions.  Osiris chalked it up to the goblin liking how the potions sparkled, so he ordered his unit to confiscate the potions and let the goblin go, little did he know that this would be a fatal mistake.

A few hours after the goblin incident, Osiris got a tip that the criminals were hiding in an abandoned mill at the edge of town, he decided to investigate.  Once the unit entered the building they instantly felt on edge, it was eerily quiet and still, as if something was going to jump out and eat them, but what happened was much worse.  Suddenly a potion bottle was rolled into the middle of them, and before they could even wonder where it came from, it exploded.  The explosion was equivalent to a large grenade going off in a bathroom, not only was everyone in the room wounded, but the already rotting ceiling collapsed on them. When the ceiling collapsed, a large metal object that was attached to the ceiling fell on Osiris's head and knocked him to the ground, before he fell unconscious he could hear the screams of his men being slaughtered as the criminals rushed in.

When Osiris awoke, he was in the infirmary of the base camp.  Confused and out of it, he tried to sit up in the medical bed, only to see the extent of his injuries.   He was standing to the right of the potion grenade when it went off and was quite close to it, so you can only imagine his horror when he found his right arm amputated at the shoulder, he had other injuries of course but none as severe.  When he sat up it had alerted an injured soldier and a nurse nearby, both came over to check on him.  Osiris recognized the soldier as one of his teammates (let's call him Richard), he asked what happened after he blacked out, to which Richard and the nurse exchanged sorrowful glances at each other, then Richard started to explain everything as the nurse was checking Osiris's vitals

After the potion exploded, about five people rushed in, waving swords, and started attacking the unit.  Despite there only being five assailants, the team was injured and dazed so hardly stood a chance.  Of the fifteen soldiers in the unit, three died in the initial explosion and roof collapse, six from the swordsmen, and then two while waiting for backup to arrive.  Eleven brave men died in a senseless act of terrorism with no apparent motive.  Osiris was stunned upon hearing this, but that apparently wasn't all.  Richard then said that as they were waiting for backup, one of the surviving soldiers saw the same goblin they encountered beforehand standing in the doorway to a separate room, the same doorway that the potion bomb rolled out of.  That soldier believes that the swordsmen somehow bribed the goblin to not only steal ingredients for the potion bomb but also to chuck the bomb at the unit.

Once Richard finished, Osiris couldn't utter a word, he didn't want to believe what he just heard, but of course, there was no denying it.  After that day, Osiris was different, he refused to lead a unit ever again and was never his confident, commanding self.   He was more submissive and didn't openly share his opinions. A t night he would dream about that day, always haunted by the idea that if he never let the goblin go, his men would still be alive.  Osiris is gaining back his confidence little by little but tries to avoid making important decisions, and whenever he sees goblins he often goes into a blind rage and attacks them.
