Everyone feels emotions, and everyone has different ways of showing emotions.  Of course, the usual ways are talking, making faces, using body language, but countryhumans have a special way of showing others how they feel: eyeshine.

When a country or entity is feeling angry, sad, or scared, their eyes will glow.  The eyeshine is typically white with the color of the iris in the middle, but some countries like Kazakhstan and Philippines, who have different color sclera, will have eyeshine that is the color of their eyes/eye.

The brightness of the eyeshine usually depends on how strongly the country is feeling about something, for example, when MA thought Poland was trying to lead him into a trap, his uncovered eye was glowing really brightly because of how angry he was.  The brightness of one's eyeshine can also depend on the country's health, a healthy country will have a bright eyeshine, but a sick, injured, or dying country will have a faint eyeshine.

Not all eyes produce a glow, entity black eyes and blind eyes will not glow, but no one knows why.  Full-time entities are exempt from the entity eyeshine rule as their eyes do glow, but only the iris part of their eyes glow so it is not as bright.

When it comes to eyeshine, it is a subconscious ability and countries have no control over it.  This can often get a country in trouble because if they are trying to hide how they feel about someone or something their eyes will still glow.  Fortunately, eyes glow for several different emotions, so it can be hard to tell which one they are feeling if they hide any other signs.
