Debate Team

Naruto: what is this?

Shikamaru: yeah, what is this?

Sakura: Mr. Hatake told me to make a group chat with all the debate members!

Naruto: Sakura? You're in the debate team, since when?

Sakura: since I heard Sasuke was in the debate team!

Ino: SAME

Sakura: HE'S MINE

Neji: He muted the chat.

Naruto turned off his phone because he didn't want to see another Ino vs Sakura fight. It didn't end well for anyone last time.

He switched off all the lights in his house after finishing some homework, as he always did when Jiraiya wasn't home, and jumped into his bed, immediately falling asleep.

Thursday had arrived, and it was time for the debate team's first practice. Thanks to the new debate team member's schedule changes, Naruto and Kiba would finally have classes together.

Naruto was awakened by his alarm as well as the sound of dogs barking at each other outside, as is customary in his busy neighborhood. After getting ready he went to school without eating breakfast since he was lazy and didn't know how to cook well. He only ate breakfast in the mornings when Jiraiya was home. Besides, Jiraiya had forbidden him from cooking after he nearly burned down the house the last time he tried to.

"How's it going, man?" Kiba waved as Naruto approached.

"Hey, Kiba. I'm looking forward to receiving our new schedules!" Kiba nodded, agreeing as they stepped into the bus.

Both boys were talking about nothing in particular when they noticed the passengers on the bus started lowering their voice and whispering. This drew the brunette and blond's attention, causing them to look up to see Sasuke and Neji boarding the bus. "Since when did they take the bus?" Naruto spoke in a hushed tone, as though he didn't want others to hear him.

"I'm not sure, but let's avoid them, especially after what happened the other day. Why did he try to hit you with the ball anyways?" Kiba wondered, his brow furrowed, eyes shifting from Neji and Sasuke to Naruto.

"We got into an argument over what happened at the dinner. Anyway, because they're both on the debate team, it'll be difficult to avoid them."

With a slight huff, Kiba rolled his eyes. "Wonderful."

When the bus arrived at the campus, everyone disembarked and proceeded inside, in which all members of the debate team went to the counselor's office to pick up their new schedules.

Naruto exited the councilors' office and compared his schedule to Kiba's. "We're in the same classes!" High-fiving each other, both boys celebrated.

"Okay, our first period is... Mr. Sarutobi! I know where that is. Follow me Kiba!" Kiba nodded and followed after the blond. When they stepped into the classroom all the other debate team members were also making their way in.

The teacher rose from his seat. "Hello, I assume you're all members of the debate team?"

"Yeah!" Sakura chirped.

"All right, I'll let you guys pick your seats, but if you guys get too loud, I'll have to set up a seating chart." All erupted in applause and took their seats. Three rows of desks were present, each desk accommodating two students. Kiba was paired with Naruto, Sakura with Ino, Sasuke with Neji, and so on.

Mr. Sarutobi continued his lecture, with all of the students asking questions when required. Throughout the class, Naruto and Kiba were making jokes with each other, which irritated a certain raven.

The first few classes of the day had ended and they were currently in the lunchroom, Sasuke's table surrounded by Neji, Ino, and Sakura.

Kiba and Naruto were on their way to their seats when Lady Tsunade bursted in, the loud noise of the door swinging open causing everyone to quiet down and avert their attention to the door. "Students, welcome! I'm going to make a big announcement. I've discussed this with your teachers, and they all believe you deserve it since our first week of school has gone so smoothly with no issues. A field trip is on the cards for you. You guys get to choose where we go as long as it is school-appropriate." Her announcement made everyone's eyes light up. They began whispering to one another, unsure of where they should go.

"Neat! Where should we go?" Kiba asked, looking over at Naruto.

Naruto shrugged. "I'm not sure. What do you think?"

"How about a camping trip?" With his hand cupping his chin, Kiba suggested.

"No way! Bugs are there, and we may easily get lost! Definitely not!" The thought made Naruto cringe.

"You won't get lost. Plus, I'll be there to help you." He placed his hand on the blond's shoulder and comforted him. "Also, do you still have a fear of spiders and bugs or something?" Kiba asked, trying to stifle his laughter.

"Obviously not! It's just that..." He stopped for a moment. "There are so many better options, ya know?"

Kiba stared at his blond friend, unsure whether he was telling the truth or not, but easily shrugged it off. "I suppose." He shrugged his shoulders. "Do you have any other suggestions?"
