|| Chapter Five ||

"S-Sasuke?" Naruto stuttered out, startled by Sasuke's appearance. Wasn't he upset?

"Let's chat in a more private place." Before Naruto could object, Sasuke grabbed his wrist and led him to the nearest restroom.

He sighed, apologizing was something he had never done before, due to his pride. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean what I said yesterday."

With his eyes wide, the blond looked up from the floor to look at Sasuke. "I thought you were mad."

With a puzzled expression, Sasuke raised his brow. Why would he be mad at Naruto? "What makes you think I'd be mad at you?"

"I was putting too much pressure on you." He confessed quietly as he fumbled with his fingers.

Naruto looked up in surprise as Sasuke chuckled softly. He'd never heard Sasuke laugh. Not like that. "Are you an idiot? What makes you think I'd be upset over that?"

"Oh, okay." He let out a relieved breath. "I'm leaving then." Naruto said as he turned away from Sasuke. He didn't want to be involved in such a conversation with his rival.

Sasuke caught Naruto's wrist before he could think, surprising them both. "Just like that, you forgive me?" He spoke up without thinking.

Naruto returned his attention to the raven. "I never said I forgave you. Let's be frank about this. You're not sorry, you just feel bad, so fuck off." The blond snatched his hand back and stormed out of the bathroom, leaving Sasuke stunned.

Naruto didn't really mean to be so rude but he wasn't looking forward to being friends with Sasuke of all people. He was happy with his current situation. Being friends with his rival would just complicate things.

Naruto sat beside Kiba and Shikamaru on a park bench, his knees pressed against his stomach. The other two boys were on their tablets, playing video games.

The blond sighed, wishing Sasuke would just forget about the incident and they could return to never speaking again. After everything, he despised the jerk.

Naruto was lost in thought and didn't notice the approaching footsteps. Kiba and Shikamaru were both too preoccupied with their video games to notice as well. "If it isn't ramen boy,"

Naruto was yanked from his reverie. He raised his head and locked gazes with Sasuke's best friend, Neji. Naruto sighed and rolled his eyes. Hopefully, this was unrelated to Sasuke. "What do you want Neji?"

"Don't be concerned. Although it would be entertaining, I'm not here to fight. I'd like to invite you and your mutt to come play soccer with Sasuke and me. I'm sure Shikamaru over here is too lazy so he can serve as a referee?"

Naruto made a sneering remark. "What makes you think I'd want anything to do with you?"

Naruto slotted down as Neji sighed and sat next to him. "C'mon, it won't hurt. I'll owe you one." That sounded good, but it meant he'd have to play with Sasuke. Where was he anyway?

"Sure, we'll play," Kiba's face was plastered with a boyish smile while Naruto's eyes shot to the side. The blond stood up, muttering under his breath about Kiba's stupidity.

"All right, let's go." Neji got up and led them over to a random open field where Sasuke was holding a soccer ball in one hand. Naruto sighed, knowing that he was in for a long day.

"Sasuke is in my team, Naruto is with Kiba and the referee is Shikamaru," Neji said as he snatched the ball from Sasuke's grasp and tossed it into the center of the field.

Sasuke kept kicking the ball towards Naruto on purpose, causing it to strike him hard a few times as they played. Naruto didn't want Sasuke to get to him, so he tried to ignore him as long as he could but, due to Sasuke's overaggressive kicking, the ball sailed across the field and was about to strike Naruto in the face when Kiba jumped in to push him out of the way. Both boys were thrown to the side after the brunette was struck in the side of the face with the ball.

Wide-eyed, Naruto raised himself from Kiba's chest. "Kiba, Kiba! Are you all right?!" He cupped Kiba's face and slightly slapped it, which didn't help.

As everyone else rushed to the two boys on the floor, the brunette groaned and began to open his eyes. "Naruto?"

"Shit. Is he alright?" Neji asked as they walked up to the two.

"Thanks a lot, bastard!" Naruto turned away from Kiba and glared at Sasuke.

Neji furrowed his brows, becoming enraged at the allegations leveled against his best friend. "It wasn't on purpose," he hissed.

"Didn't you see him all game trying to hit me with the ball?!" Naruto screamed.

"Jumping in was his own fault." Naruto became even more enraged when Sasuke shrugged. Why was he behaving like this?!

"I recommend you shut the fuck up because Sasuke didn't do it on purpose." Neji took a step forward, knuckles clenched, moving closer to the blond. When it came to his friend, he was serious.

Naruto knew better than to continue arguing, so he just turned back to his friends. "Shikamaru, help me get Kiba onto my back." Shikamaru hummed and followed his instructions. Sasuke and Neji had already left by the time Kiba was on Naruto's back.

"Where are you taking him?" Shikamaru asked as he followed along.

"My house. I'll heal Kiba's wounds there."

"Alright." Shikamaru nodded.

Both boys proceeded to Naruto's house. Kiba had awoken when they arrived, so they used a medical kit they found among Jiraiya's belongings to treat his wounds.

"Thank you," Kiba said as he sat up.

"It's all right. Do you need help getting back to your house?" Concerned, Naruto inquired.

"It's all right. Shikamaru can accompany me there."

"Can you tell me when I agreed to that?" Shikamaru mumbled.

Naruto chuckled and said his goodbyes as he walked them to the door. He shut the door and locked it, deciding to shower since he was drenched with sweat from playing soccer and carrying Kiba to his home.

He felt refreshed after his shower and was about to begin doing some homework when he heard a message from his phone, followed by a series of others. He took his phone out of his pocket and checked his notifications; they were from Instagram.
