Debate Team (sasunaru/narusasu)

|| Chapter Nine ||

As he stretched, Naruto groaned. Despite the fact that he had gotten an entire eight hours of sleep, he was still exhausted. He knew he couldn't sleep in, no matter how much he wanted to. However, the fact that he wouldn't be trapped in a school eight hours helped.

He got out of bed and walked over to his closet, looking for something to wear. He didn't care much about what he wore, so he grabbed the first shirt and pair of pants he saw.

After changing he was much more awake. He took out his phone and texted Kiba to let him know he was on his way. Then he grabbed the bag he'd packed the day before and walked out the door, making sure to lock the door since his grandfather wasn't around to do so.

He went to the bus stop and waited for it to arrive, which only took a few minutes. He walked in, a smile spreading across his face as he saw Kiba sitting near the back. "Kiba!" Exclaimed the blond as he dashed over to the brunette.

Said boy looked up from his screen, smiling. "Good morning, Naruto! I'm looking forward to going to the water park!" As Naruto sat down, he cheered.

"Yeah," He hummed, not too excited because he wasn't going to swim anyway; he was just relieved he wouldn't be stuck at school.

The boys went to their first period as soon as they arrived at school. As the classroom filled up, they sat down at their table and began talking.

The announcements came on soon after, saying that anyone who was going on the field trip had to report to the auditorium. Mr. Sarutobi stood up and motioned for everyone to form a line. Naruto and Kiba pushed each other to get to the front of the line. Mr. Sarutobi led them to the auditorium, stopping a few times due to the students' excessive noise.

When they arrived at the auditorium, they discovered that a large number of students from other classes had already taken their seats. They sat in a single row because their class was limited due to their participation in the debate team.

Ms. Tsunade rose to the stage and cleared her throat loudly, drawing everyone's attention to her. "Okay, students, we'll be filling the buses in order of teacher's classes, so please bear with us. We'll begin with Mr. Hatake's and Mrs. Yuhi's first periods." They continued in this manner until all of the buses had boarded the highway and were on their way to the water park.

Naruto took out his phone and headphones, giving one side to Kiba so they could listen together, taking turns selecting a song to play.

Naruto felt his shoulder shake violently. "We've here, Naruto! Get up!" The blond's sky blue eyes met golden brown ones as he opened them. Since Kiba was looming over him, he groaned and lightly pushed him away so he could sit up straight.

"Okay, okay jeez." He stretched as he yawned.

"All right, everybody, let's go," Mr. Sarutobi ordered as he stood up from his seat. All of the students exited the bus in the order given, beginning with the students in the front seats. When they exited, they were greeted by other students who had just exited their buses, as well as several buses that were just arriving.

"Your teacher will be taking you to the building with the rooms you'll be staying in," the principal said after all the buses had arrived and all the students had exited them. "Each room holds four students in total. Your instructor will assign you to your roommates. When you get to your dorm, put on your swimming gear and go to the first floor to meet with your first-period teacher, who will show you where to sit for breakfast. After that, you'll be taken to the water park itself. Keep yourself safe and return to the first floor of the building for lunch. After lunch, you'll hang out in your rooms for a few hours before it's time to return to school for the day." She explained.

"You've heard her. Please stick with me." Mr. Sarutobi spoke up and led the students to the third floor, where they came to a halt in a long corridor. "I've already determined which room you'll be in." He said, making a few students groan, and the girls cheered amongst themselves, hoping to share with Sasuke.

"Since we're an odd number, two of you, Lee and Shikamaru, will share a single room." He welcomed them into their room, which was located at the far end of the hall.

"This room will contain Tenten, Ino, Hinata, and Sakura." He guided them to the room directly across from Shikamaru's and Lee's.

Kiba and Naruto exchanged glances, each understanding what the other was thinking. "This room will contain Neji, Naruto, Sasuke, and Kiba." He told them as he led them to the room next to the girls.

Naruto sighed in frustration and cursed under his breath. "Great, of course, we have to share with them, of all people,"

Kiba sat down after putting his bag next to a bed. "Don't worry, Naruto, these jerks aren't going to ruin our trip."

"We're still here, you know?" Neji spoke up, rolling his eyes as he took a pair of swim trunks from his bed.

"Idiot," Sasuke said, drawing the attention of the blond. "Don't lie to me, I know you're pleased to be sharing a room with me." As he passed Naruto, he whispered.

"You bastard! Of course not! I'm not going swimming anyway so I'll have the room all to myself." He announced, laying back on his bed.

Kiba and Sasuke snapped their attention towards Naruto. "What do you mean?!" Kiba asked.

Naruto shrugged his shoulders. "I'm just not interested in going."

"I'm pretty sure you have to," Neji stepped in to make a point. "Particularly when you have no one to look after you."

"I don't need someone to look after me," Naruto rolled his eyes.

"I'm sure," says the student, "but they'll most likely take attendance for the students' protection," Neji explained as he walked to the bathroom to change.

Naruto stood up straight as realization hit him. "You've got to be joking." He grumbled.
