|| Chapter Eleven ||

As he slowly opened his eyes and saw someone, Naruto realized he was right. He felt his stomach churn in fear as soon as he knew who it was.

It had to be Sasuke.

Of all people, it had to be him.

He was about to let go when he realized that if he did, he'd most likely drown. He cursed himself for not having a backup plan. "Idiot," Sasuke grumbled. "What the hell are you doing?"

"I..." He was undecided about what to say.  "Wanted a piggyback ride?" He said, his voice trembling with self-doubt.

He cursed himself for coming up with yet another ridiculous excuse. Ignoring the looks he got, Naruto sighed and let go of Sasuke's shoulder and using other parts of his body to get to his back. Once he got there he wrapped his arms around Sasuke's neck, leaving everyone stunned.

Sasuke quickly understood what was happening. "Please don't say you can't swim." He spoke in a hushed tone so that only Naruto could hear.

Naruto tensed. He considered making up another lie but decided that Sasuke was much too smart to believe him anyway. "Okay, fine! You got me. Just—please don't tell anyone. I'll owe you one. I understand we aren't the best of friends and all but-"

"Fine. I'll keep your secret. How do you not know how to swim anyway?" He sighed, massaging his temple.

Kiba approached them, perplexed and angry. "Naruto what the hell?!"

Naruto gulped, unsure what to say, but Sasuke spoke up for him before he could. "Someone bet against him. If he doesn't do it he'll have to pay for losing the bet. I'll go along with it, but he'll have to repay me."

Naruto grinned. How did Sasuke become so good at making up lies? It made him a little envious, but he shrugged it off since it came in handy this time. He'd have to make a mental note not to believe him ever since he was so good at lying.

Kiba locked his gaze on them, his pupils constricting as he tried to find out whether they were telling the truth. "Hmmm... To complete the bet, how long does he have to be on your back?" He inquired, his arms crossed in a disapproving way.

Sasuke replied, "All day."

Naruto pulled Sasuke's hair back and whispered, "What do you mean all day?! What about when we go inside?!"

"Stop pulling my hair, idiot!" Sasuke shouted, his eyebrow furrowing in anger.

Ignoring Sasuke's complaints, he pulled on his hair, completely forgetting about Kiba's presence. "Yeehaw!" He grinned.

Kiba rolled his eyes and walked away.

The latter used one of his hands and reached out, catching a glob of blond hair, throwing them off balance causing them to flip into the water. Naruto's body flipped as he dove into the water, the water rushing into his nostrils hurting him.

"Sasuke! Ahh! Save me!" The blond yelled as soon as he resurfaced, flapping his arms around, looking for his body to grab onto.

Sasuke grabbed onto Naruto's arms, helping him stay afloat once he regained balance. "Calm down, idiot. See what you did?"
