|| Chapter Twenty Three ||

Sasuke put his phone in his pocket. He had been expecting Neji to return for a while now. He'd gone out to find someone to play with as usual, despite Sasuke's protests that he didn't want to play because he was in a bad mood. "Where is that idiot." He mumbled to himself, running a hand through his hair. He didn't have time for this, he was far too stressed.

He was about to ditch the brunette when he heard footsteps approaching him. He gave a quick glance to see if it was Neji, but what he saw was far worse, it was Naruto. Sasuke's eyes opened in surprise.

Why did he let Neji go off on his own and do this again?

He quickly gathered himself, attempting to maintain a normal demeanor while avoiding the blond's eyes. Why'd Naruto agree to play though? Was he mocking Sasuke? Or was he maybe planning something?

Naruto glared at Sasuke even though it wasn't really his fault that Neji threatened him. "What are they doing here?" Sasuke hissed, glaring at Naruto.

"Hey! I don't want to be here any more than you do so quit your bitching!" Naruto reciprocated, crossing his arms.

"What do you mean?" He inquired, puzzled. Why didn't he just say no if he didn't want to? When did he start listening to Neji?

Neji rolled his eyes and said, "Let's just play."

"Can't we play another time? This isn't the best of times." Kiba spoke up. He had just gotten out of a smelly dumpster after being chased by some random stranger and fought with his best friend not too long ago. Who was Neji to meddle with his life and determine what he did in the first place?

"No, I'm in the mood to play right now." Neji sighed and rolled his eyes.

Sasuke had finally grasped the situation. They were being forced to play against their will. The question was, what was Neji's leverage over them? How did he manage to get them to agree?

"Please, Neji," Naruto begged. "Right now isn't the best moment. Please, we'll play at a later time."

"Why are you so adamant about playing?" Neji inquired. "Do you want me to reveal your little secret to everyone or what?"

Unlike Kiba, Sasuke wasn't surprised because he knew Neji had possibly threatened him with something.

"You made a threat to him? What the hell is the matter with you?" Kiba hissed. Yes, he was mad with Naruto but he still wasn't about to let Neji threaten him. As he prepared to punch Neji, his hands fisted.

Sasuke effortlessly caught the back of Kiba's shirt and held him back. "What did you threaten him with?" Sasuke asked, nonchalantly.

"You already know," Neji smirked.

Kiba came to a halt in his pursuit of Neji, looking back and forth between Neji and Sasuke before turning his gaze to Naruto. "You should have known better than to put your trust in that jerk! He just goes out and tells everyone about your secrets!" He screamed.

"What are you referring to?" Sasuke asked.

"You don't have a clue what you're talking about, Kiba," Naruto said, ignoring Sasuke. "Just let it go,"

Kiba grumbled. "No, no, no! I'm fucking mad! What else did you tell that prick before me? Huh?"

Sasuke and Neji shared a glance. "Can you guys fight later?" Neji grumbled, interrupting the two, but was only dismissed.

"That concludes the discussion. I'm done." Kiba huffed. "I'm sick of your shit! Go with your new best friend!"

"Dumbass, me and Sasuke aren't fucking friends!" Naruto hissed. "I'm leaving if you're not going to believe me!" He screamed and then turned to face Neji. "I'm done, tell the whole school for all I care." He said before stomping away angrily.

"Oh yeah? Well, I'm done as well!" Kiba screamed and turned around, leaving Neji and Sasuke behind.

Neji let out a sigh.

"What did you threaten Naruto with?" Sasuke asked, breaking the silence. He had no idea why he was asking but he was.

Neji turned towards Sasuke with an eyebrow raised. "Curious eh?"

Sasuke's eyes thinned. "Shut the fuck up. Just answer the question."

Neji rolled his eyes. "Sour as always I see." Before complying, he muttered. "I threatened to tell everyone about his swimming issue. It's odd, I know; I'm guessing he's self-conscious about it or something."

Sasuke had a scowl on his face. "It's best if you don't tell anyone." He challenged the latter, who was taken aback. "He'll join us the next time." He said before walking away with his hands in his pockets.
