In less than ten days, the rumors were everywhere and the content of the rumors were getting more exaggerated. The Empress had also sent someone over several times but was deliberately turned down by Ye Huaiyang with the stance of rather die than be associated with Chu Jinglan. Taking all these in, the Empress was certain of her loyalty, hence she began roping Ye Huaiyang in to be her informer, alternating with the play of carrot-and-stick approach.
