[R/D]chapter thirty four: fear

(Y/n) POV, 3 days before Toby~~~~~~~~~~~

"I-i can take him out, and we can run!"
I suggest.

"...you havent eaten in two days, you're weak."
Cher says, still clutching onto her wound.

"Bastard....that BASTARD!!"
I scream, punching a small wooden plank that was lying against the wall, it snaps easily, and cher gasps.

"Oh my god....its me.."
Cher mumbles, I look towards her.

"What?"
I mumble, confused of her random thoughts.

"I'm the one slowing you down...keeping you on the edge of death....all the time I spent raising you, I thought you were keeping me there."
Cher pauses, looking at me, then herself, then back to me.

"But you were already fighting, you've been fighting for yourself and me...and I've blamed you for everything..."
Cher mumbles.

"What are you saying...?"
I ask.

"...(y/n), I need to ask you to do something, and please, no matter what, do as I say."
Cher says, taking her bloody hands off her wound, and onto my hands.

"O-of course, if it saves us, I'll follow your orders cher!"
I say.

"Run from this town."
Cher says, I flinch and move backwards.

"What?? But how will you survive?!"
I ask.

"I'm a tough girl, I can manage...but you'll only die if you stick by me."
Cher says, struggling to stand.

"If you run now, you can make it to safety."
Cher says, smiling.

"But what if you bleed out?! Or what if that man tries to get in again!?"
I yell.

"LISTEN TO ME (Y/N)....please..."
Cher whispers.

"...you have to survive, got it?? You have to, you still need to teach me so much..."
I say, voice cracking.

"If I survive, I'll meet you in Denver, okay? Just stay on the path."
Cher says, weakly pushing me towards the backdoor.

"...promise?"
I mumble.

"Promise."
Cher says, holding out her pinky, I do the same, before walking towards the door.

I look back once, seeing the woman who raised me, bloodied and relying on a wall to stand....she said shed survive, I have to trust her.

Flashback over~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Noah, what are you doing?!"
I yell, hes gripping me tightly, running towards what looks like another small town...why is he running so fast?

"Get back here!!"
Toby yells from behind, trying to keep up with Noah's speed.

Noah jumps and let's go of me with one hand, the other gripping my waist, climbing up a brick wall, putting us on the top of a building, once up, Noah puts me down, his head turning to every angle quickly...is he looking for something?

"Godamnit Clawed, let her down!"
Toby yells.

"This is....wow, I'm not that sure what to say."
Conny mumbles.

"H-hey....you shouldn't be up there...!"
Sam says, voice cracking, I guess he got scared when Noah ran with me...I'm still kinda scared

"Guys, go in the building, maybe you can climb to the roof!"
I call out, Toby nods and grabs the Conny and Sam, Oliver following after.

Conny POV~~~~~~~~~~~

We walk inside, and it looks like...a shop, theres clothes, small jewelry, and even a couple hats.

"Of all places to be in...why couldnt he have put them on top of a movie theater? Or a pizza place?"
I say.

"Let's go, c'mon."
Oliver says.

I walk next to Toby and Sam, who are quiet as a corpse...well, the ones that dont walk.

"Soo...howd you meet the group?"
I ask, not really knowing who im asking.

"I was with (y/n) before any of them, Sam here was with (y/n) when they were trying to save me."
Toby explains.

"Save you from what? Your stinky ass breath? You smell like the dead man."
I say.

"...ha."
Toby mumbles, obviously not amused, him and Sam walk off, leaving me to my thoughts.

Toby POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I still cant believe it...Olivers name was on that paper, theres no doubt...Oliver killed Jack, my friend...he needs to pay.

How do i make him suffer for what he did? How do i tell him clearly that he shouldn't mess with the group again? After what he did to (y/n), he's lucky i don't fucking kill him...(y/n)...they were heartbroken, that was horrifying, i don't think I've ever seen them like that...they looked like they wanted to die.

"Toby...theres the ladder."
Sam mumbles, my head finally realizes.

...Sams Olivers childhood friend.

he hurt my (y/n) by taking Jack...so I'll hurt him, ill kill his best friend....nothing personal Sam.

Noah POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My eyes dart from tree to tree, building to building, i swear i saw something, heard breathing...ive heard it since that one town, the one we were ambushed in, its followed us...but it sounds close now.

"There you are, you asshole!"
Toby yells, i stand on two legs and cover his mouth, eyes still scanning.

"...eh?"
Toby hums.

"I think hes looking for something, hes been looking everywhere since he put me up here."
(Y/n) explains...they're smart, im glad they didn't freak out.

"What scares a literal dead guy?"
Toby asks, and, like the world itself answers, an arrow flies towards us, missing Toby by very little space, hitting the floor.

"Oh f-DUCK!"
Toby yells, Sam runs down the ladder...he sure was silent.

"Lets go, we can lock ourselves in this place until we're safe!"
(Y/n) says, grabbing my hand and running down the ladder, Toby following after.

"Why are you yelling??"
Oliver asks, poking his head into the room.

"Theres someone trying to shoot us! Block the doors!"
(Y/n) yells.

"I-i dont wanna die...!"
Sam whines, falling to the floor.

"How is it you guys find danger so well?? Ive been with you for less than an hour and theres aparantly a man trying to kill us!"
Conny says.

"Welcome to the group, asshole, we nearly die daily!"
Toby says.

They run around like chickens with their heads cut off, frantically blocking us in this small building, exept sam, hes just...crying, he really cant take the outside world well.

"Did we get everything??"
(Y/n) asks.

"We got the doors, the upper latch to the ceiling, and the bathroom doors...ive heard some stories."
Conny says.

"What about the windows??"
(Y/n) asks, the room goes silent.

"...guys, what about the win-"
(Y/n)'s interupted by a loud noise.

...the sound of glass breaking.
