[R/D]hapter seventeen: friend or foe?

Toby POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It's so cold...my head is pounding, what happened? I heard someones voice, then a loud thump, and...holy shit, someone had (y/n) unconscious in their arms!!

"FUCK!"
I jolt up, breathing heavily as I try to understand where I am...I'm in a carriage, its barred off, like a mobile prison, being pushed by a horse and a cloaked person controlling it.

"Hey, you, where the hell am i?? Where's (y/n)!?"
I yell, shaking the bars.

"Can you please shut up? I'm still trying to ignore the pain of when you bit my godamn thumb! It hurts...you dick."
A boyish voice mumbles.

"Where are you taking me??? I need to get back to (y/n), I can't be here without them!!"
I yell.

"The objective is fine, they'll be at the district a little after us, well, after me, your ass Is going to the cages...I don't trust you near my hands."
The boy says.

Why is he calling them an objective...and what's the district?

(Y/n) POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Mh....what the...? Where am i?"
I mumble, getting up, my head hurts like hell.

"Welcome back to earth, been lonely here without you."
Jack says, staring at a campfire, when did we make a fire?

"What's going on? When did we get out of the building?"
I ask, Jack stiffens a little.

"We almost didnt, some dick and an unknown partner tried to kidnap you, we got him, but hes not talking."
Jack says, I look around and Spot Noah, who's glaring menacingly at a guy tied to a tree.

"Is that him?"
I ask, Jack nods.

"And...I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but someone has to...They didnt get you, but they got someone else."
Jack says, I look around for Toby, expecting to see his smile or worried eyes, but I dont even see his worn jacket or blue backpack.

"Wheres Toby?"
I ask.

"Well...That's who they got.."
Jack mumbles.

...no fucking way.

"What?!"
I yell, getting up quickly.

"Hey! You've been unconscious for half the day, you could be too groggy to stand!"
Jack says, I ignore him and storm towards the guy on the tree, slamming my hands on either side of him.

"You fucking asshole!! Where is he?! I swear to every godamn god on this planet that I'll rip out your teeth and shove them in your dick if you dont tell me!!"
I scream, the guy looks terrified...or at least heavily disgusted.

"(Y/n), we already know where he is, hes somewhere that's in the next town over, we just need to keep moving this way, it's still in the direction of Denver too, win win."
Jack says, I sigh and take my hands off the tree, slumping down to the floor and rubbing my eyes, they burn, probably cause I'm sad...why am I so sad?

"Fuck, I knew he couldnt make it without people, but I didnt think hed still get in trouble in a group...at least not this much."
I mumble, the guy looks at me, I cant tell what hes feeling, but I've only ever seen that look on Noah and Toby, maybe Jack a few times.

"We're camping down for the night, then we can probably make it to Toby in an hour or two tomorrow, dont worry."
Jack says with a determined smile across his face, Noah grins his signature horrifying, yet adorable, grin.

"...Toby will be safe, right?"
I ask.

"Yeah, we'll get to him before any real problems start."
Jack says.

Hold on Toby, I've saved you once, and I'm damn well saving you again.

Toby POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I glare at the kidnapper driving the carriage, he doesnt seen to pay attention.

"Can you stop? I didnt even want to take you with me, it was just supposed to be that other one."
The boy says, I sudden rush of anger runs through me.

"DONT YOU EVER TOUCH (Y/N)."
I yell.

"You think I'm scared of you? I'm pissed, sure, but I've seen way worse than you."
The boy says.

"...where are you taking me? You said the district before, where the fuck is that?"
I ask, maybe I can find my way back to (y/n) if I know where I end up.

"Sanctum district, it's the safest place in the country."
The boy says.

"Isn't that Denver? The walled off part of state?"
I ask, the boy stays silent this time, it sort of worries me...

"I'm Oliver, seems fair that you know your kidnappers name, you are...?"
Oliver holds his sentence.

"Toby, or Tobias, whichever."
I say blandly, I dont want to make friends with someone who was going to take (y/n) from me, but maybe itll help me later on.

"Ah, there!"
Oliver says, I look towards him, theres a wall with blood and spikes...is that the sanctum district?

"Hello rinwood, brought a new recruite?"
The man on the other side of the wall says.

"No, this guy posed a threat to mine and my partners mission, so we're bringing him to trial of attempted murder of a trailblazer."
Oliver says...attempted murder?

"I'll open the gate, good luck."
The man says, the gate opens and the carriage goes through, it's a whole town...walled off from the outside world, it looks like they have electricity too!

"Woah..."
I mumble, Oliver chuckles.

"Yeah, we have solar power and a big generator that powers most of the town, we have working baths too....man, when I'm done with all this, a hot bath sounds great."
Oliver says, the people in the town dont even bat an eye at me, are they used to this?

"This is amazing...why do you kidnap people? To bring them here?"
I ask.

"Well...Sort of, our population in here isnt enough to have a good system, more people die of the infected every day, others just cant take it and walk out the gate, so for the past few years, we've taken up...borrowing people, we bring them here, then they choose what they're going to be, they just cant choose to leave."
Oliver explains.

"So you kidnap people to keep a town going?"
I ask, that's slightly terrifying..

"Yeah, I guess, after a few days, they usually dont want to leave, they love the warm beds, the electricity, and the nice people, it's like a pre-infection zone in here!"
Oliver says.

"...is that why you wanted (y/n)?"
I ask.

"Yeah, mine and my brothers job is to scout for any potential in the infection zone, about two days ago, we saw your group, and we saw them...they stuck out to us immediately."
Oliver says.

"I...well, they're a strong person, they saved me, and most of the people in their group."
I say.

"We just meant to get them, no harm would've come to them and we would've taken them here, but then you came, I guess you thought we were gonna hurt them...you latched onto my finger, almost bit it off, in the end we had to take you too."
Oliver explains.

"...if this trial goes my way, can I live here with (y/n)? I can't be without them, but this place...they'd be safe in here."
I say...plus they wouldnt let Noah in.

"Sure Toby, sounds like a plan."
Oliver says.

Fuck, I'm friends with my kidnapper, and double fuck, he's actually nice...but maybe this could turn out okay...?

"Heres the cell you're sleeping in."
Oliver says, it's a cage with a bed, and the bed has a pillow and blanket...

"That's better than what I usually sleep on."
I say, Oliver gets me out of the carriage cage and puts me in the cell.

"Your trial is tomorrow, maybe I can help you...just dont bite my finger again."
Oliver says with a smug grin, he rides away on the carriage and I lie down.

This place is amazing, maybe if Jack and (y/n) come, we can all live here...I'd love that.
