Chapter 8

Jae-in POV

   "YOU WHAT" I couldn't believe my ears, Jake laughed back over the phone, saying "Calm down sissy do you need me to repeat it ?" I took in a few deep breaths, thinking over what he had just told me. Out of nowhere in class one day, I have gotten a call, having to excuse myself from the classroom, hearing the snickers from some of the girls as I hurried into the hallways.

It had turned out to be Jake, and he was telling me that he had discussed with his manager for me to visit and potentially live with him ?! "You know mom and dad are leaving for Jeju tomorrow to visit grandma, her lung cancer isn't getting any better and it'd be better for them to stay with her, but you're still underage."

    "Bu-but what about school ? I can't just leave IT'S LITERALLY THE MIDDLE OF THE SEMESTER JAKE"

Jake sighed on the other line, obviously my hesitation had been wearing down his patience. He seemed much more irritable than usual, perhaps he was working too hard on his debut to have the time and effort to deal with me.

"There's a school like a 10 minute drive away from our dorm, you'll just have to transfer. Besides, you know mom and dad won't let you stay home alone, you're still underage." Still doubtful, I agreed to it, wondering what his dorm was like.

   "Alright, make sure to pack up tonight, my manager said he'll reach our house to pick you up before mom and dad leave at 7am." My eyes widened, I didn't know I would have to go THAT early ?! However, not wanting to upset Jake, I mumbled an alright and a see you, hoping he wouldn't notice my downcast tone.

Jungwon POV
  "Sunghoon hyung! Do you know where Jake hyung went? The manager needs him for vocal practice." Sunghoon hyung shook his head, putting up his hoodie before walking off to dance practice. We were just a few months from debut and somehow we already lost a member. I ran around the company, before finally coming across Jake hyung outside the artist lounge.

   He had a really serious look which startled me slightly, Jake hyung was never the serious type, I wondered what was wrong. As Jake hyung looked up at me, I heard him say "My sister will be coming to live with us from tomorrow onwards, I've already asked and our manager agrees. I'll let the others know by tonight." Then Jake hyung left before I could even tell him about vocal practice.

   His sister ? That's weird timing but I guess having a girl around would be a nice change of perspective, especially when you live with 6 other guys I mean I love them but they also give me a headache sometimes. Hopefully she won't feel uncomfortable, in fact I'll make sure she's comfortable with us, it would be the nice thing to do.

the next day ~~
Jae-in POV
 
I had packed till midnight last night, not knowing how much or how little to pack since I wasn't sure how long I would be there for. I ended up choosing some of my favourite sweaters and cardigans as well as some shirts, sweatpants, shorts and a few dresses and skirts just in case.

In summary, my luggage was practically overflowing so the next morning, when I opened my squinting eyes to see a guy dressed from head to toe in black, I was embarrassed for him to have to help me carry it out the the dark van. If I wasn't informed by Jake the previous day, I would've mistaken it for a kidnapping scene, pretty darn similar.

   I arrived at the dorm around an hour later, with the manager (I assume the guy in black was the manager) assuring me that my arrival was very much welcomed and that the boys were already informed beforehand so none of them would be surprised in any way.

He soon left after handing me my own set of keys and pointing me towards the front door, saying he needed to set up the schedule for today's photoshoot or something. I hesitantly took them, my hands shaking as I unlocked the front door and stepped into the living room. It was like 0815 am and I didn't expect anyone to be awake, especially since I usually consider myself an early bird more than others, but to my surprise all the guys had gotten up and were in the kitchen having breakfast.

  I awkwardly stood at the front door, until I heard someone say "Hey Jake, I think your sister's here !" Soon after, all the boys came streaming into the living room one after another. I had to stop myself from laughing as Jay pushed out a half asleep Heeseung, beside Ni-ki who still had a piece of bread in his hands. Jake ran over to me, picking me up and spinning me round and round like he used to when we were kids. As he put me down, I looked down, blushing and realising they had all been staring at us.

  Noticing the tension in the room, Jake smiled widely and said "Everyone, this is my sister Jae-in and Jae-in, this is Sunghoon, Heeseungie hyung, Jay, Sunoo, Ni-ki and Jungwon." Hearing his name, I looked quickly across all the members, stopping at his face. I remember him.

He looked up and made eye contact, his hands in the pockets of his black sweatpants. We stayed like that until Jay stepped up and said "Welcome to our dorm! Do you need any help with your luggage? We can help if you want!" Thankful for his interruption, I accepted the offer, knowing I probably wouldn't be able to lift the luggage on my own.

  However, instead of Jay, Sunghoon stepped in and grabbed the handle, nodding at me while bringing it into a room I assumed was the bedroom. "This is the guestroom, you can stay in here but if you need any of us we're in the room right opposite your door." Sunghoon said as he put my luggage down in the corner of the room, without making eye contact.

I don't know what it was about him but he seemed really unapproachable and cold. I didn't want to be rude though, so I politely thanked him and made an excuse about resting for awhile so he would leave. To my dismay, he merely continued standing there.

  "Don't you want to go finish your breakfast ?" I asked quietly, hoping he would hear. Sunghoon shrugged, inching closer to the edge of the bed I was sitting on. "I just have a few questions for you."
