Jae-in POV

"He actually wrote a letter clowning my 'secret admirer', now that's commitment," I thought to myself as I untied the blue ribbon on the whute envelope.

There was no way this wasn't Jungwon's, there was a giant scribbled J on the front of the envelope along with a ribbon on the back. Out of pure anticipation, I took out the letter and looked around to make sure there was no one else in class (it was too early in the morning) before reading it.

"Dearest Jae-in, as much as I love having to sit with you during every single class, I'm sure you love my writing just as much, thus I shall do you the honour of having many more of my pieces. Do enjoy ♡ You shine brighter than the stars, it blinds my eyes. You're sweeter than candy, it causes diabetes. You have the prettiest eyes, I get lost in them unknowingly. I may be blind, diabetic and lost, but I will always love you. Sincerely, your AB+mate."

By the time I finished the letter I was restraining myself from laughing out loud as students had started to come into class. I never doubted Jungwon's writing skills, but his humor was certainly up my alley.

"Being blind, diabetic and lost has nothing to do with love," I thought to myself, chuckling. Soon after, Jungwon strided into class from his locker, glancing at the letter in my hands before asking

"Was it Shakespeare or was it as bad as I said it would be?"

Unwilling to tell him he was right just yet, I said "I haven't even opened the other one yet so I still don't know if yours is worse."

Grabbing the pink letter from under my table, Jungwon scanned through it quickly before saying, "Actually mine might be better" before snickering and reading it aloud in the same dramatic tone as he did before.

"To my dear sweet Jae-in, my hands are filled at the moment so I will not write as often, but my mind is swimming with images and thoughts of you and your sweet smile, do not miss me for I am one of free spirit and alas, this routine has been unlike me. Love, secret admirer."

"That's awful, what will I laugh at in the mornings now" I groaned out in sarcasm.

"I'll keep writing to you then, just until your secret husba- I mean admirer starts sending letters again for your amusement." Jungwon said.

I immediately shook my head, not wanting him to go through the trouble of having to write to me every day with new prose just so I can laugh to myself, but he insisted to do so because he's 'the only one capable of making you laugh without being mean' so in the end I accepted the suggestion.

Afterwards, I quickly kept the envelopes in my bag as Sooyoung had arrived from the cafeteria (she had to have a coffee from there every day) and I didn't think she would like the fact that her crush had just suggested writing love letters- even if they were fake- to me.

That was how I spent the next 3 months, Jungwon sent a letter to me every day without fail, always in the same white envelope, sometimes with a ribbon and other times without. The contents ranged from terminal illness to animal abuse but all in a joking, love-ridden tone just like the first one.

I can't say I disliked receiving them because they were hilarious and much better than the secret admirer's letters since they were actually meant to be funny and also since Jungwon had much better grammar and spelling than the other guy did. Once, my secret admirer spelled 'dangerous' as 'daingerious' and I got way too much second hand embarrassment to continue reading that letter.

The only thing was that I felt awful that Jungwon was super busy with schoolwork and extracurricular but still never failed to put a letter under my table, with at least a full page of words, getting longer each time. In fact, I felt so bad I once wrote to him too, just to return the favor, but he just smiled and said "You can leave the writing to me you know, it's not a big deal. Also, bestest isn't a word!" My letter more of a thank you card anyway.

"Dear Jungwon,
Thank you for writing to me, as much as it's amusing I do hope you do not continue as it has been 2 months and I don't think the secret admirer guy will send another letter, he must've moved on to another poor soul, so I don't want you to go through the trouble of having to write to me either, it's good enough that you tolerate being my seatmate.
♡, Jae-in, aka your bestest seatmate."

That was, until my secret admirer started writing to me again. Now that I think about it, it's weird that Sooyoung asked me about Jungwon the same day when she seemed to be doing alright on her own without mentioning him for the whole 3 months.

"So.. Jungwon likes you ?" Sooyoung asked during lunch break.

"No, we're just friends, why do you ask ?" I replied between bites.

"He's been writing you LOVE LETTERS JAE-IN I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS HOW COULD YOU HIDE THIS FROM ME" Sooyoung was on the verge of tears.

"It isn't like that Sooyoung just calm down okay it's a joke. Jungwon is just clowning my 'secret admirer' for fun, not actually sending love letters."

Sooyoung calmed down and apologised quickly for misunderstanding the situation and I thought the whole thing was over. We had a pop quiz that day, so I forgot to tell Jungwon that he could stop sending letters to me, so the next day when I saw his letter under my table I knew he was in school, so I walked towards his locker, hoping to tell him before I forgot. However, I ended up stopping dead in my tracks, gawking at the sight in front of me.

"Stop fighting it Jungwon, I know you like me too, Jae-in said so" Sooyoung was struggling, trying to get close to Jungwon and shoving him against the locker. Before they could see me, I ducked behind the opposite row of lockers to see what was happening. I had never told Sooyoung that Jungwon liked her, why was she lying ? Jungwon was trained in taekwondo so I wasn't really worried about him being taken advantage of, I was just shocked and confused that Sooyoung would do such a thing.

Soon enough, Jungwon was unable to stop her without actually hurting her, allowing her the upperhand, so I rushed up to them before anything could happen to Jungwon, causing Sooyoung to be flustered at my presence.

"W-What are you doing here Jae-in? I thought you always stayed in class to read your letters?" I glared at her before dragging Jungwon away quickly and I didn't stop until we reached the 1st floor staircase. Surprisingly, Jungwon didn't even fight it, he just followed along. "Let's go under the stairs so no one sees us," I said softly, looking around for people. Jungwon followed me under the stairs while I sat down.

"I'm so so so sorry.. I never told her you liked her. I really didn't, you have to believe me! I would never do that and I'm sorry she acted like that I mean I knew she liked you but I didn't know she would do- that.." as my voice trailed off, a boom rumbled through the silence and I realised it was going to rain soon.

As a child, I was terrified of the rain, not the rain drops but the thunder and lightening which was awful timing because a giant thunderstorm immediately started. At first Jungwon had been calm, listening to all I had to say, occasionally nodding or saying 'mhmm' but this was different. I had never been with any guy, not even my best guy friend, during a storm like this.

Jungwon was about to speak when a loud grumble of thunder came cracking, causing me to whimper and close my eyes. If only I knew we would have to spend the next 2 hours under that staircase.
