A few weeks passed into the school year and Jax hadn't got anywhere with Emma. He just didn't know what to say.
He didn't even know if she actually liked him. Hell, the last time they talked was his aunt's wedding.
Diego did say he was going to help him out, but he was scared of what he was going to do.
Was he going to tell Emma directly that Jax had a middle school crush on her? Damn, that would be embarrassing. But what would she say?
Ugh.
Jax's leg thumped as he listened to a song through his headphones. He didn't even know what song it was; he was too distracted. So, he decided to stop the music. He coiled the wire and packed everything into his backpack.
He was still bored, so he pulled out one of his copies of X-Men comics. He flipped to the first page.
He was so invested in the action taking place in the comics, that he didn't even know that Emma had slipped into the seat next to him.
