Before reaching the stables, you could have sworn you heard a loud door noise, but it was probably your imagination. People said it was over active

Grabbing Kazuma's arm before he opened the door, you wrote on a piece of paper.

How do we play this out? Pretend I'm 'hollow' or have me act like my normal self?

"I don't see why you shouldn't act like yourself, but if you truly want to act like an emotionless husk, who's only purpose is killing a giant lamp-addict, be my guest."

You knew Kazuma was being sarcastic, and lord where you glad for it, Kazuma usually only hung around the best, and they would definitely have high expectations for a new member Kazuma brought out of the blue, sure he said the priest was near useless, but she was also a goddess, who he dragged here. They would all definitely be expecting something big.

Kazuma opened the door, to reveal... A Loli, dressed in red and an eye-patch chasing a blue haired woman around trying to steal a bottle that looked suspiciously like alcohol, begging for a drink.

"Hey, you two, behave yourselves, we got a new party member!"

The two quickly stopped, and then made their way over to you, and started closely examining you, the red one anyway, the blue haired approached Kazuma cautiously, and whispered something to him... Which you was able to hear perfectly, "Are you sure, he smells suspiciously like an undead? It's like he's begging for a purification!"

The red one, meanwhile, was introducing themself, while posing menacingly, "I am Megumin, of the Crimson Demons! I am also the strongest mage of all Axel, and wielder of the strongest magic, Explosion Magic! Did you come to this party to bask in the power of my explosions?"

Alright, a Chunibyo and somebody who would probably wear a bucket while shouting "Deus Vult" given the chance.

You were putting to much stock in Kazuma's common sense.

Staring at the group, wordlessly, as was going to be the new norm for you, you stood there... Watching, as if that was a good introduction.

"Ne, Kazuma, why are they just staring at us like that? Normally someone would have reacted by now?" The red one, which you where going to believe was Megumin, since she got the description perfectly, asked.

The Blue haired one, Aqua, moved her hands around, "Alright, I'm going to purify the undead! Watch me go Kazuma!"

Kazuma tried to stop her, but Aqua cast a spell called Sacred Turn Undead, and a pillar of light erupted from your feet, the last thing you saw before being consumed by light, was a horrified look on Kazuma's face.

Words can not describe how much I wanted to kill you here, just to throw down call of the witch as you woke on a bench in Axel.

Or it would have been, if you had been an undead.

When you where revealed after the light storm, Kazuma heaved the most relieved sigh you had seen, before turning on the goddess with righteous fury, "YOU IDIOT, YOU JUST TRIED TO KILL HIM FOR 'SMELLING LIKE AN UNDEAD'! I KNEW YOU WHERE USELESS, BUT WHAT IF HE WAS HOSTILE AFTER THAT, HUH?"

Kazuma laid into her, I had never seen him this angry before, so you pulled Megumin a bit farther away from... That.

When you where a sufficient distance away (Read as, you might not be used as an improvised weapon) you wrote down on a piece of paper

Are they normally like that? Or is that new?

"No, I haven't seen Kazuma like that since when... No, I don't think Aqua has made him that mad before."

You nod, before waiting quietly for the yelling to subside.

"Where did you come from, I haven't seen anyone like you before?"

Oh, lord she is going to regret asking you about Hollow Knight indirectly... Your going to be partially truthful... Can't say your from a different world, can you? So you start writing an in depth 3 page essay with 12 point Times New Roman double spaced font.

Timeskip brought to you by your vessel calmly writing over a desk, while Kazuma and Aqua are yelling in the background.

It's been almost... An hour since you started writing write? Are they still fighting, Megumin's fallen asleep and there was a constant knocking of some guy telling them to shut up.

You pull out a small cup from your cloak, and take a sip.

This is fine.

KINGU CRIMSON

Everyone was at the guild hall, and you where trying to figure out how the hell you were supposed to eat, if you had too.

Do you stick the fork into the neck hole? Pour it in through the eye?

How the hell does this work, it's more confusing then how time works in frozen time!

It doesn't help that Kazuma bought this fried frog for you, and you were determined to eat it. You had even drawn a small group of drunks who were cheering you on as you tried to shove frog in your eye.

When you finally tasted it though...

Let's just say you where never going to be picked as a Hollow Knight. It tastes so good that you where pretty sure your shell emoted.

At least, that's what the cheers of the crowd said. That you looked happy.

Finally finishing the frog, you made your way over to Kazuma, Megumin, Aqua, and Darkness.

Megumin was still reading the essay of Hollownest you had given her, Aqua and you where trying to get along, she thought you were an undead and still might think so, so she treated you rather distantly, Kazuma and you goofed off, as per usual, and Darkness was... Well, when you met...

Flashback

A blonde hair woman jumped in front of you, and in a panic, you accidentally shot a Vengeful Spirit that hit her square in the chest, and she flew backwards quite a ways.

Present

The aftermath of that, was not pretty, she was practically begging you to use it on her again, and you couldn't escape her grasp because you didn't have the shade cloak, because sadly, you had to buy those upgrades with Skill points.

And what's even worse about your lack of skill points?

The lack of monsters! Apparently a General in the Demon King Army was nearby, and it scared all of the low level monsters into hiding, and you barely had any practice with your sword as is!

So, when Megumin approached you, asking for you to accompany her on her daily Explosion, and a sufficient explanation of what it was, you readily agreed, you could forge a bond with one of your comrades, and get to see Explosion magic first hand.

And as you walked to the castle, you listened to Megumin vent, about Kazuma, Aqua, Darkness, the town in general, the General, and her familiar, you discovered you were a good listener.

Except you didn't listen to a word she said, And only nodded along as she asked questions.

But when you got to the castle, watching Megumin chant her spell, and nearly disintegrate the castle, she then collapsed.

You had to carry her back to the town, but it was enjoyable to be there, you got to watch a giant ball of gas kill things, and you got to listen to how Megumin felt about her party members.

She then dubbed you her, 'Explosion Buddy' which meant you would accompany her more, and would probably be forced to learn something similar to Explosion. At least, you would If you could afford it, Abyss Shriek was very powerful, and could obliterate large objects quickly. One of the most powerful spells you could get in Hollow Knight.

And that's how you met a wacky team that would probably get you killed more than once.
