15. Missing Moonlight

"Sir, we received a distress signal from nearby," reports a soldier.

Axell stares to a large map on the wall.

He asks, "Signal? I thought phones won't work anymore."

"It's aired through radio, Sir."

"Hmm... "

Axell stares Tristan.

He asks, "What do you think? Should we help?"

"Be careful. It might be a trick."

This is Apocalypse world. Robberies often occur in frequent basis.

"I know. We should just ignore them."

"No. Let's take a look. It won't hurt if we find new ability users," comments Tristan.

In the world of Apocalypse, only strong people could live. These folks could live until now. It means they are strong enough to fight zombies.

Axell and Tristan are leaving the base using a fortified Hummer. Five soldiers have come with them.

Tristan's eyes dart to a newly built earthen walls around their base.

Mike and other earth ability users are busy building the thick solid walls. More defenses meant more life saved in zombies attacks.

Axell covers his eyes with his hands.

He comments sourly, "No staring other guy. I might be jealous to death."

Tristan nudges him with his elbow. They aren't even dating. He has no right to prevent him from staring.

Axell rubs his ribs while pouting.

He asks, "Do you like him that much?"

"I just can't understand him. His girlfriend sucks. Why he kept loving her?"

It's no secret that Lorraine tried to hook up with Axell few times. She's beautiful woman with lovely body. If Axell isn't a gay, he might have been tempted.

Axell snorts.

He says," I got better taste than that idiot. No way I would place a green tea b*tch in my eyes."

He wraps his hands on Tristan's slim waist.

He whispers to his ear, "I only want you. Just give me a chance."

The soldiers are fed up with the free dog foods shoved into them. All of them are singles. Watching sweet PDA really makes their teeth decayed.

Tristan pushes him back.

He complaints, "Stop messing around.  We need to prepare to meet them."

"I'm fully prepared," says Axell.

His eyes dart to outside. Two large metal balls are following them.

Axell always gathers up metal objects whenever he leaves base. They are his weapons against zombies and mutant animals.

Tristan is silent. He laments his weird abilities again for the hundred times. Other folks could toast zombies or make water for survival. He could only see targets on his foes.

Lorraine, Mike's girlfriend is a water ability user. She and Farrah are responsible to provide water for their building usage.

Their duty is to fill the huge water tank in daily basis. Axell calls it as rent payment. The guy is acting like a local tyrant. He owned several nearby buildings. He is arranging settlements for people who worked for him.
