12. Second Mission

"Concentrate your mind. Focus and gather up your thought to flick a fire on your fingertips."

As usual, Axell spends an hour or two everyday to teach Rose how to use her power. She's getting better. She could form a small candlelight fire from her fingertips.

Tristan is silent while staring them. They look like a great couple standing together. A beautiful woman and a handsome man.

Axell finally notices his arrival.

He taps on her shoulder and says, "Keep on practicing. Create bigger fire and burns that pile of garbage."

Rose complaints to Tristan, "He is treating me as matches. Keep piling up trashes to burn."

Tristan comments, "Try to shoot fireballs from few meters away. It's better to fight from long distance
range.

" I see. How to get stronger? " asks her.

" Just keep practicing. Increase your fire temperature. The higher the better. "

Rose frowns.

She asks," Is it all fire the same?"

Tristan shakes his head.

He comments, "There are different fire. The lowest level is red. The next one are orange and blue. The highest fire level is white. It could even melt bones."

"Wow! White fire? I shall work hard to achieve it."

Tristan smiles a little bit.

You could do it. In my last life, you're the only legendary ability user with white fire.

Axell is standing close to them.

Tristan is a nerd. He usually doesn't speak much with others. Seeing him chatting freely with her. It makes him feels awful. Fearing he might be a straight guy after all.

Axell says, "You keep on practicing. Tris and I have plans to do."

"Yes, Boss. Farrah has awakened her water ability. She asked if there's work to do for her."

"Hmm. Okay. I shall find a water tank for us. Her daily task is to fill it. We could use the water for daily usage."

"Okay. I'll let her know."

Water made by ability users taste sweet and won't be polluted. That's why water based ability users are very valuable for any base in Apocalypse world.

Tristan asks, "Where are we going?".

"Our mission. Remember?"

"Oh, yeah. I'll get my weapons."

Tristan goes to fetch his items. Axell stares his back.

Rose asks, "You haven't claimed his heart yet?"

"Not that easy. He might look sweet and clumsy. He guards his heart in invincible fortress."

"Work harder, Boss. He is a good fellow. It will worth a lot of your efforts."

"En. I know. Keep practicing. You might join a mission soon."

Rose makes a military salute. She will join training later at base HQ.

Some soldiers are training civilians to fight. Too many soldiers have died in keeping the base safe from zombies.

There is no other way but to rely on civilians as mercs.
