Tied like a hunted game, the little boy struggles in vain.
Blair says, "Don't waste your efforts. I'm a perfect boyscout. You can't break loose the rope easily."
He squats down and asks, "What's your name?"
The boy stares coldly to him.
Blair chuckles.
Yup!
He got the same cold stare like Richard. They are really blood related.
Blair takes out a melted chocolate bar from his pocket. It's from his personal stashes. He swings it in front of the boy's eyes.
The boy gulps.
Blair asks, "Name? One bite for each answer."
"Jake Miller."
He takes a bite of the chocolate bar.
"Could you stop harming Richard? He is your uncle."
"No. He killed my mom. I have to avenge him."
"Stubborn kid."
Jake bites another bit of the choco bar.
Blair explains, "Your uncle, General Richard is a base leader. He protects and saves a lot of life."
"He killed my mom."
"Do you want her to roam the world forever as a zombie? Killing other human beings. She wouldn't want it."
"You aren't mom. How did you know?"
Richard walks in. They have occupied another unit in third floor.
The soldiers are busy collecting goods from the condo units.
Fresh foods have been decayed. None were taken from the fridges.
They only take fans, papers, shoes, clothes and other smaller goods. They are leaving most of the trucks empty. For the seeds storage later.
Richard sighs. He offers two canned beef tongues to Blair.
Blair asks, "Have you eaten?"
Richard shakes his head. He opens a door to balcony to smoke. His last cigarette.
The dead zombies have been taken down to a nearby courtyard. One fire ability user sets the flames. The corpses are burned in piles. His sister is burning right now.
His eyes are watery. No more tears. He is a grown man.
Blair taps on his shoulder. Richard doesn't respond at all.
Jake yells, "I'm going to kill you!"
Richard throws down the finished cigarette butt to the floor. He stomps on it before heading back in.
He squats in front of Jake.
He mocks, "Look at you. So skinny and frail. How could you defeat me?"
The boy roars like a wounded animal.
Richard says, "I'll train you when we get back to base. Wait till you're older to beat me up."
He rubs his little head with affection.
"I'll be waiting for that day, kiddo."
Richard goes out again.
Blair sits down on the floor. He opens the cans of beef tongues. He feeds the kid. The little boy is staring him with murderous intent.
Blair only chuckles. He eats his share of meals. The canned beef have gotten expired few months ago. It's better than being hungry.
