38. Ghost

Five stars hotel in beautiful countryside. It is facing a vast lake with sparkling water.

A huge welcome sign is broken. It's like a bad omen for them.

"It's too quiet. Almost frightening. Like a scene from horror movie. A vengeance ghost would appear and slay us all."

Richard complaints, "Shut your raven mouth, Axell. No one is dying today."

"I'm just trying to get into the mood. This is like a set from horror movies..."

Axell's eyes widened. There is something moving at the edge of his eyes. When he turns his head to see it, there is nothing at that spot.

Blair is holding a gun. He is ready to shoot down any zombie available. He walks ahead of them.

Richard smirks when he follows him from behind. Beautiful and badass lover. One should never underestimate Blair.

Xiao Lu looks around. He feels someone is watching them. As a sniper, he has good intuition.

They enter the Lobby. No one is here. Not even a zombie receptionist. Only bloody trails all over the place.

Tristan tightens his grip on his crossbow. Axell made it for him. A bit crude but useable. His katanas are on his back.

Richard asks, "This place is too vast to search. What do you think? Do you think we should search separately?"

Axell comments, "That's what happened in horror movies. Got separated and Freddy Krueger killed everyone."

"Or maybe Jason. At least not the guy with the chainsaw. I hate him," adds him.

Richard protests, "Don't hear him. Must be PMS time. Any other opinion?"

Rose complaints, "PMS. That's sexist. Why men always make jokes like that? You never know the menstrual pain."

"I know it's hard being a woman. Giving birth is a pain in the ass. Salute for all the women out there."

Tristan comment makes Rose finally smiles.

Blair says, "I agree that we divide into few groups. It's faster. I wanna go home soon."

Rose and Xiao Lu nod their heads.

Mike says, "I will go with majority."

Richard orders, "Everyone who thinks we should divide in groups, rise your hand."

Only Axell doesn't raise his hand. He stares his hubby miserably. Tristan smirks.

Richard orders, "We shall divide into three groups. Blair and I. Xiao Lu..."

The butler immediately says, "I will go with Rose and Mike."

"Okay. That means Tristan and Axell. Be careful everyone. Stay safe. We shall gather here again after three hours. Don't be late."

Xiao Lu follows Mike and Rose. He would never tag along with the lovers. Refused to be third wheel or mosquito. Got fed dog foods (PDA) occasionally. That's a torture for a single man like him.

They go to southern part and arrives in a kitchen. Many zombies wearing kitchen staff uniforms are lurking in this area.

Xiao Lu uses his military knife to kill the zombies. Rose burns few zombies from the opposite direction.

Mike checks the refrigerators. Fully stocked. The electricity is still running thanks to the solar panels. He is shedding tears of happiness in his heart.

He hasn't eaten meats for a long time.

The last time, they killed a giant mutant bird and ate it. Not too much meat. They could only savor the soup made from the bones.
