"I love a good story about meeting the parents." Charlotte adjusted the top of her dress. "I don't care what anyone says. Meeting the parents is terrifying."
"Beyond terrifying." I tugged on the crisscrossing straps on the back of Charlotte's dress to tighten them. "Especially when you don't speak their native language. I felt like I was already going in with a huge disadvantage."
"But it worked out." Charlotte steadied herself against a chair when I tugged again. "They loved you."
I nodded. "They're wonderful and welcomed me into their family right away. I can't wait until the day that I'm comfortable enough with speaking Korean so I can have a one-on-one conversation with them without Jin's help."
"It's a difficult language to learn." Charlotte spritzed some perfume over herself. "You're getting better at it, though. I don't know the first thing about it but even I can hear your improvement."
I smiled. "I have a great teacher." I tied the straps into a bow at the bottom of the corset back of the dress. "Can you breathe?"
"Enough to get by." Charlotte twisted her body to look at her back in the mirror. "But you'll have to loosen it before dinner because I plan on eating everything."
"Good. Eat it all. We chose a buffet-style dinner for a reason." I sat down and sipped some water when Charlotte stepped away to answer her phone. I looked out the open window when I felt the warm breeze. The sky was a bright and vivid blue and there wasn't a cloud to be seen. Birds were singing in a nearby tree, telling me that it couldn't have been a more beautiful day.
I reached over and grabbed my phone. I realized that I haven't checked it all afternoon, so hopefully no one was trying to get ahold of me for something. There were two missed messages and I breathed a smile when I saw who they were from. I read them and responded, and read them again.
I clicked the screen off and looked out the window again. I sighed happily, thinking about how happy I truly was. Every day might be the first day of the rest of your life, but that day was the first day of the rest of my life with Jin.

It was quiet, which was rare, regardless of the fact that it was 1am. But it had been a fairly relaxing day overall, so it wasn't surprising that everyone retired to their own rooms after dinner. A few mumbled voices would emerge from behind closed doors every now and then, hollering while they played their video games, but it was otherwise peaceful.
Jin and I decided to hang out in the living room. We were enjoying some wine and talking about anything and everything. Then the next thing I knew, we were making out like a couple of high school teenagers.
We sat in the corner of the couch with my back against the cushions and my legs draped across his lap. A super soft and oversized blanket covered us both. He had an arm hooked around my lower back with his other hand resting on the side of my neck. His soft and luscious lips slowly grazed over mine and I could feel his thumb lightly moving back and forth along my jawline.
