Charlotte did a little happy dance in her seat. "I never packed a bag so fast in my life."
I laughed. "I was so excited. I didn't anticipate Jin inviting you to come. He really wanted to meet you."
"And I finally got to meet him." Charlotte smiled. "Seeing how happy he makes you only made me want to meet him even more."
"I love that he trusted you so much before even knowing you." I curled my leg up onto the couch. "They really didn't want anyone to know that they were in town."
"That was a testament to how much he trusts you." Charlotte pulled the fruit tray closer to us. "He knew that you would have told him not to trust me if that were the case."
"I knew that you wouldn't say a word." I popped a piece of melon into my mouth. "But he had a fun little surprise in store for me first."
"Jin and his surprises." Charlotte shook her head. "They never seemed to end, did they?"
I grinned and shrugged. "He likes to make people happy."
Charlotte leaned closer to me. "But when it comes to you, I think he prefers the term 'spoil' over 'surprise.'"
I cringed. "I hate that word. You aren't wrong, but it makes me feel so awkward."
Charlotte chuckled. "It's not a bad thing. He does it because he wants to. Like you said, he likes to make people happy. But it's different with you. He wants to make you smile and feel loved."
I shook my head. "But he never had to do any of that extra stuff to achieve that."
"Exactly." Charlotte took a sip of her drink. "He never felt that he had to do anything. He did it because he wanted to, not to mention because you never anticipated any of it. You never asked him for anything but his love and his company."
I leaned against the back of the couch and fidgeted with my bracelet. "Because that's all I'd ever want from him. I didn't need anything else."
...............
I walked beside Jin, hand in hand, through some hallways that I had no idea where they led. "But isn't it late? Didn't the restaurant close like a half an hour ago?"
"I don't recall saying that we were eating at the restaurant." Jin smiled down at me. "I put in a special request. You'll see when we get there."
I pursed my lips in thought, wondering what he was up to. "I'm so confused."
Jin chuckled and squeezed my hand. We rounded a corner and he pushed open a door that led into the hotel's kitchen. He greeted the chefs and line cooks who were obviously waiting for us.
I looked around the large kitchen as Jin discussed a few things with the other men. Did he order ahead? Were we going to have the restaurant to ourselves?
Jin thanked the men and turned to me when they walked away to leave. "So, are you ready?"
"Ready for what?" I blinked up at him. "I still have no idea what's going on."
He reached behind me and grabbed two aprons. "We're going to make dinner." He hung an apron around my neck and leaned down to kiss me.
I smiled and tied the straps around my back. "What are we making?"
"Bulgogi." Jin tied his apron and started organizing the various ingredients that were on the counter in front of us.
"Oh." I just stood there watching him move, unsure of what to do. I've never made this before so I had no idea where to start.
