"Let me tell you something." Charlotte continued twisting and curling my hair. It looked okay from what I could see, and she seemed happy with the results so far, so I just let her continue doing whatever she wanted. "When you told me that you were staying, part of me honestly thought that you were ultimately going to say 'fuck it' and never come back."
I laughed. "I'd be lying if I said I hadn't considered it." I pulled my curled leg out from underneath me.
"And so began your week-long sex session." Charlotte smirked. "As I'm sure you both took advantage of your time spent together out there."
"Seriously, you're the worst." I rolled my eyes. "That isn't all we did for the whole week."
Charlotte stopped to look at me. "Oh come on. You keep saying that but I still have a hard time believing it. You told me yourself that it was amazing."
I grinned. "I mean, yeah, it was." I caught Charlotte's eye as she stared at me, waiting for me to continue speaking. "Okay, fine. So we fooled around a lot. Big deal."
"It is absolutely a big deal." Charlotte started pulling the front of my hair back, bringing it half up with the rest of the length falling in soft waves. "I need you living your best life at all times. And if that means flying out to spend a week rolling around in bed with a man that you'd just met, do it."
"Now you're really making me sound like a whore." I rested my chin on top of the stuffed animal in my lap. I smiled to myself, thinking back on that week and how new everything was. It still felt that way even now. "I don't regret anything, though."
"Definitely not a whore. Only a woman who saw an opportunity and took it." Charlotte continued pinning my hair. "And shit, I hope you don't have any regrets. Look at where it led you."
"I know. It's crazy." I sighed. "Even though I asked you earlier to tell me that I won't regret this, I've honestly never been more sure about something in my life. Yet I'm still nervous."
"When you know, you know." Charlotte shrugged. "Taking a big step like this is nerve wracking for anyone regardless of how long you've known each other. It doesn't warrant an explanation as long as it feels right to you."
"I guess that's how soulmates work." I clasped my hands together. "You just know."
Charlotte shook her head. "No, this runs deeper than that." She moved around my chair to sit in front of me. "Have you ever heard of twin flames?"
I raised an eyebrow. "No. What does that mean?"
"It's way more intense than soulmates." Charlotte curled both of her legs underneath her. "Twin flames share the same soul in two bodies and meeting each other completes your destiny. You were destined to find each other."
I just stared at her as she spoke. "So, is that why everything felt so natural from the start when we met? And why it feels like we've known each other for our entire lives?"
"Yes, exactly." There was excitement in Charlotte's voice. "You literally met your other half when you met Jin."
I sat back with a sigh. I'd never heard of any of this before, but it made sense. The term 'soulmate' really never felt like a strong enough word when I thought of Jin, but a lot of things suddenly clicked.
"I just read about it recently." Charlotte refilled our glasses of water. "I've never put much thought into all of that spiritual stuff, but when I read about that, I couldn't help but think about you guys and how your entire relationship has played out."
"Maybe there's something to it." I looked around the room, seeing how it was brightly lit from the sun pouring in through the windows. And when my eyes fell onto the dress that was hanging on the back of the door that led into the adjoining room, I smiled. Everything really did play out the way that it was supposed to.
