Mia's POV

2017. The year Fangirls took over the U.S. government.

I didn't know how they did it and quite frankly, I don't care. But things sure as hell changed in America after they took over. Good and bad things.

The good things: equality for everyone, regardless of race, religion, sexuality, gender, et cetera.

The Fangirls had separated ourselves from the other countries, therefore no one could go in and no one could go out. Which sucks, because I've always wanted to go to Australia.

There is one thing the Fangirls truly hate, and it's fake fans. If you are caught in an act of fake fangirling, then you are severely punished. Apparently, being a fake fan is a mockery to the real Fangirls, and disrespect for the actual band and/or celebrity. The Fangirls sure as hell take their laws and fangirl shit seriously, but I think they're bluffing.

Which is why I made an account to pretend that I'm a fake fangirl. The band I have chosen? Well, the biggest band at the moment is 5 Seconds Of Summer, and the Fangirls absolutely adore them. Which makes things even more risky for me.

@/5secondsofshit: OMG! I just love 5-es-oh-es. Luke is my favorite. The most ugly one is michael tho

I smirked as I watched myself and the tweet get a witty reply from the fam. Of course I know that they don't pronounce "5-es-oh-es" and that Michael is extremely attractive (personally, he's my favorite), but this is fun.

Going against the government is fun.

I missed how it used to be. Before they took over, my family would take trips to Canada and have a two week vacation there. But of course, the Fangirls had to ruin it. I loved school until the Fangirls took the education out and replaced it with the study of your favorite celebrity, which is absolute shit because how the hell am I suppose to live off of knowing where Louis Tomlinson takes his boyfriend Harry Styles on a date? How am I going to make money with that?

I've been pretending to be a fake fangirl for a few months now, and I still haven't been caught. I've kept my secret to myself and not to my friends or anybody else. I don't want to risk them squealing on me.

My phone rang, and I picked it up, already knowing that it was my best friend.

"Hey, Savannah."

"Mia. You are never going to be believe what just happened." Her voice sounded urgent and upset, which worried me.

"Well, what happened?" I asked.

"Brittany got arrested," she tells me.

Brittany is Savannah's sister and a close friend of mine. Now Brittany... she's a fake fangirl. Except she's not pretending. She literally doesn't know anything when it comes to bands, always getting named mixed up and throwing shit around. She's obvious when it comes to it, but I hoped she wouldn't get caught.

"What?!" I nearly yelled. "How? Where? When?"

"This morning. The Fangirls traced her Twitter account, you know; @/1DHarry? Well, they saw her tweet about her asking who Niall was and how unattractive he is, and they came to our house and just arrested her."

"Do you... do you know what they do to fake fangirls?" I gulped.

"Dunno. But the worse punishment they could think of, I'm assuming." Savannah sighed. "I just hope she's okay."

"Me too. Listen, Sav, you wanna go get some McDonald's? Maybe it'll cheer us up," I suggested.

"Alright. I'll be ready in five."
