then the team of heroes met in the middle, some flying, some shooting arrows, some deflecting punches. kodie was met with scott lang, deflecting the punch he threw at her. "hey, tiny."

"hey, miss. stark." he replied, eyed widening as her hand opened, her boosters starting up. "this really isn't how i planned for this day to go." he admitted as he knocked her off balance, stopping her from being able to hit him.

"yeah? me neither."

he awkwardly kicked out, and she grabbed his ankle, twisting it to send him to the ground. "you're a liar." he told her, laying on the ground. "you said you believed in peace, but now you and your dad are trying to kill all of us. what else are you lying about?"

kodie chuckled, turning to walk away. "the suit isn't really iron." she said, looking over her shoulder for a brief minute before flying away. "it's titanium."

scott shrunk, jumping onto the foot of her suit as she flew away. he was then trying to go into her suit to malfunction it, pulling apart various wires. "that was not very cool of you." dakota told him, picking him up and tossing him onto the ground.

dakota flew over to where hazel was, the two of them far away from the fighting. "ross sent you here to arrest us?" hazel asked.

"not exactly." dakota said. "but it's going to turn into an arrest if we can't meet his time request."

hazel scoffed, both hurt and offended. "i can't believe you're on his side."

"i'm not on ross's side, i'm on the law's side." she countered. "i don't want anyone to be hurt, but bucky is a war criminal, no matter how much steve trusts him."

"technically, i'm a war criminal, too." hazel pointed out.

"that's different."

hazel shook her head. "you don't get it. we have to go find the other winter soldiers, and--"

"no, i don't get it." dakota interrupted. "i don't get what you're going to do once you've found them. and, honestly.. i know why it's important to bucky. but i don't know why finding them is so important to you, h."

something shifted in hazel's eyes. "because i'm a winter soldier, too."

dakota's heart dropped in her chest as she stared at her friend. her friend who couldn't remember her past, whose first memory was being saved by steve. saved by steve, who had been looking for bucky. of course it was personal to hazel now. and she couldn't possibly stop her or bucky now.

"little help?" peter spoke over the comms.

dakota sent another glance to hazel. "i'm going to do everything i can to help you guys get on that jet." she said before flying off to find peter. it took a moment before she noticed peter struggling under the weight of a gangway.

steve was moving away from the boy, and he turned around slightly, smiling as dakota helped him. "kid," he said, directed to peter, "aren't you a little young to be an avenger?"

"aren't you a little old to be alive?" kodie retorted, sending peter into a fit of laughter as steve, chuckling fondly, ran away. "you gotta stop making me save you." she told peter, using the strength of her suit to move the large sign off of him.

dakota and peter made their way back to the center of the action. they watched in astonishment as scott made himself giant, and peter held his hands up to his head in shock. "holy shit!" he exclaimed.

"hey, language." kodie warned him, though she was thinking the same thing.

scott grabbed rhodey's foot, holding him in middair. "okay," rhodey said, "tiny dude is big now, he's big now."

"give me back my rhodey." tony said, leading to peter immediately webbing the now middair rhodey and saving him from hitting a plane. "okay," tony said, avoiding the wing of the plane that sam threw at him, "anybody on our side hiding any shocking and fantastic abilities they'd like to disclose, i'm open to suggestion."

"i can make a mean mac and cheese." dakota announced, flying underneath sam, who she'd somehow gotten into a middair fight with. he grabbed hold of her hands, attempting to fly her into the ground. dakota kneed him in the groin, watching him land where he'd intended for her to be.

peter was on a plane below her when he spoke up. "hey, guys," he said, "you ever see that really old movie, empire strikes back?"

"that movie is not that old, it came out in, like, 1980." dakota replied, hovering in the air.

peter swung towards scott, a web attached to one of his legs. "you know that part . . . where they're on the snow planet . . . with the walking thingies?"

"hoth, at-ats, yeah?" kodie corrected, nodding. "are you really about to pull a luke skywalker right now?"

"maybe the kid's on to something." tony said, watching him.

"high now, go high." rhodey said, flying up with dakota and tony both following his lead. peter swung around scott's legs, wrapping them in web. tony, dakota, and rhodey all met, landing a blow on scott's head at the same time. scott toppled, his hand barely hitting peter who practically went flying.

a concerned tony landed next to peter, who was in a heap on the floor. "kid, you alright?" peter fought him off before realizing it was tony, calming and setting his head down with an 'oh. hey, man.'

"that was scary." he admitted as dakota landed next to them.

tony nodded. "yeah. you're done. alright?" he turned to dakota. "and you're taking him back to his hotel, before you get hurt."

"what?" peter asked, shaking his head.

"i am not going to get hurt-" dakota defended herself.

"you did a good job." tony told them. "now you get to do a good job going back to the hotel."

peter shook his head. "no, i'm good. i'm fine."

"just go back to the hotel."

"no, it's good-- i gotta get him back!" peter protested, sitting up a little.

"you're going home or i'll call aunt may!" tony threatened. "you're done!" with that, tony flew off.

peter tried to get up. "wait. mr. stark, wait! i'm not done, i'm not . . ." he fell over. "okay, i'm done. i'm done."
