after helping peter pick an outfit and tie his tie, may stood infront of him, straightening his shirt. "it's game day." she said, looking at her nephew. "so, what's the plan?"
"open the door for her," peter said, watching his aunt nod in agreement, "tell her she looks nice, but not too much because that's creepy."
"don't be creepy." may agreed.
peter shook his head. "no. and, uh, when i dance with her, i put my hands on her hips."
"you got this." she assured him, tightening his tie.
a knock on the door made peter's eyes widened and he spun around. "that's her."
"you got this." may whispered, stepping out of the way, though she stayed in the room to watch their interaction.
peter opened the door, his eyes widening as he took in dakota. she wore a light blue mini-skirt dress that matched his light blue tie, and her hair was pulled into a curly half-up half-down style with small white flowers tucked around the crown of her head.
all of peter's plans of what to do and say went out the window as he saw her. "i- i- i, um.. wow." he managed to get out, watching as she laughed, a light blush on her cheeks.
"you're wow, too." dakota said, looking up at him.
peter blushed, looking down at his feet with a smile. "thank you."
"are you ready to go?" she asked as he held his arm out for her to take.
"yeah, yeah, i'm-"
may emerged from her place watching them, her phone in hand. "pictures! pictures!" she exclaimed.
"no, we don't need-" peter tried to protest.
"come on, we're about half an hour early, anyway. we can take a few pictures." dakota said, looking up at him as he sighed, giving in.
after taking way too many photos, may let the two teens leave. "bye, may, love you." peter said as he closed the door behind him and dakota.
as he'd planned, he opened the car door for her. dakota had just recently turned sixteen, but she'd had her license for a few years. one of the many perks of being a billionaire's daughter was learning how to drive at a young age, and being able to convince the government that you were good enough at it to get a motorcycle.
"i thought happy was driving us?" peter said as he sat in the passenger seat of the sports car. dakota had neglected to mention to the boy that her father didn't want them seeing each other, which made getting ready for homecoming harder than she would've planned.
"yeah, well, he was busy doing things for moving day." she said, which wasn't entirely untrue.
"that's today?" peter asked.
"yeah, we're just moving the furniture and the more expensive things, though." she explained as she pulled out of his apartment complex.
she had the radio on as they drove to his school, and peter listened as she lightly hummed along to the classic rock. "you truly look so beautiful." peter said, watching as she smiled over at him for a brief second before looking back to the road.
the couple arrived at midtown tech, their car making their entrance grander than even the students in limos. flash pulled in in his father's car, parking next to the expensive vehicle. he stepped out of his car, wanting to challenge whoever was in a car of higher quality than his. dakota would've done anything to have saved the look of shock on the boy's face when none other than peter parker emerged from the car.
"oh, hey, biff." dakota said to flash as she got out from the driver's side.
"miss- miss dakota- miss stark, my name is flash!" he said as she took peter's hand and walked away.
"don't care!" she said with a smirk, not bothering to turn around.
"you really hate him, don't you?" peter asked, chuckling.
"can't i kill him?" she asked in response.
"no."
"not even a little bit?"
"no."
"can i punch him in the face?" she suggested.
her persistence made peter laugh. "no.
"what if i just break his nose a little?"
the couple made their way to the entrance of the school, and peter almost stopped in his tracks as he saw liz allen with her father. "what?" dakota asked, following his gaze. "who's she?"
"she's in my.. my team for academic decathlon." peter said, nearly in a trance.
dakota was almost going to be jealous of the way he was staring at another girl until she noticed that peter was horrified. "okay, so what's the problem, you look like you've seen a ghost."
peter looked away from the father and daughter, looking down at dakota. "her dad.."
"yeah, what about her dad?"
"he's the guy with the wings."
