"wrra!" nebula exclaimed, fingers in a fighting stance while looking at tony and dakota stark. tony had decided that the group spend their days in space playing paper football, a game that dakota had tired of quickly.

"you don't need to do that. " tony said. "because uh... you're just holding position." nebula flicked a paper football towards him, fully concentrated. "oh yeah, that was close." he said, watching as she flicked another. "that's a goal. we're now one apiece."

she looked up, a serious look on her face. "i would like to try again."

dakota sat across the table, watching the game play out. since leaving planet titan, she had spent her time on the ship laying around, waiting to die. oxygen was running out, and kodie wasn't dumb-- she knew that her own death was inevitable. it would be worth it, in the long run, she thought, to be with peter again. after dakota had failed, she refused to forgive herself. the death of her boyfriend was all she had now, besides her father.

with nothing else to focus on, she could only sit and think about all the ways she'd failed. thanos had won, and had successfully taken god knows how many people away from life. although peter was the most heartbreaking loss for her personally, she knew that she had failed the whole world. she had no way of knowing if peter's friends were alive. more importantly, if pepper was alive. if there were people back on earth waiting for her.

"that was terrible," tony commented on his own paper football shot, "now you have a chance to win." nebula flicked her own piece of paper towards tony, and it made it through his goal effortlessly. normal dakota would have laughed, or made a sarcastic remark to tease her father's poor shot. this dakota was not normal, not anymore, and she stayed silent, looking at the table in front of her. "and.. you've won." tony said. "congratulations."

dakota got up, wearing a tank top and leggings, blood still staining her face and shoulders. sadly, the ship that the guardians had arrived in, the benatar, hadn't come with a shower. this fact left both starks sweaty, bloody, and bruised from their fight. dakota and her father had allowed each other separate areas of the ship to sleep in, and kodie headed to hers then.

if the ship was comparable to the millennium falcon, then dakota's place of rest would be the gunnery, the place luke fired the gun. dakota plopped into the seat, which outlooked a large window, sighing as she reached out to her helmet.

"i don't know who's all still there at home," dakota told her sapphiron helmet, which was more than slightly damaged from battle, "but we're not gonna be here much longer. oxygen is gonna be out tomorrow, and then.. well, then the stark legacy will be left with pepper, if you're still down there, which i pray to god you are." kodie shifted in her seat, sighing. "i love you, happy, pepper, may, anyone still out there. and, may, if you get this, i'm so sorry i couldn't protect him." she blinked to hide her tears. "kodie stark, out."

dakota pressed a button on her helmet, turning off the camera. tired, defeated, and running out of air, dakota leaned back in her seat. she was going to die. "dad..." dakota mumbled, turning in her seat and reaching an arm out as if to grab him. "dad.." she mumbled once more, beginning to cough.

she thought she was struggling for air, but she realized that she was just exhausted beyond belief. dakota attempted to get up, but only fell deeper into her chair. her eyes closed, and she could feel herself beginning to drift into what was either sleep or death.

a light shone from the window by her seat, waking her up as kodie held a hand to her face to shade it from the brightness. once her eyes had somewhat adjusted, dakota thought she noticed the figure of a human mixed in with the blinding light. god? dakota wondered to herself, nearly passing out. "jesus, i'm going insane." kodie said before her head hit the back of her chair and she passed out.
