Chapter 13: On The Deck

You got up and followed Eren out onto the deck. The sound of the ocean and the bright moonlight made you feel a certain way.

"I don't actually need your help getting the cooler. I just wanted an excuse to be alone with you for a minute."

"Oh?" you said as you went over face to face with Eren and put one hand on his shoulder.

Eren grabbed your waist with one hand and pulled you close to him and with the other hand, he cupped your cheek and brought you into a kiss. You could tell just by the way that you were kissing each other that you didn't want it to turn into anything more than making out because if you did more, then the others would notice and it would be really embarrassing.

After just a minute, you both pulled away and caught your breath. Eren came close and put his thumb on your bottom lip and ran it along it. "Sorry. Your lipstick was smudged. That was my fault." he said with a smirk. "Anyways, we need to hurry up and get the cooler in the house or else we'll be found out."

"Right." you said, somewhat still in shock that it was so obvious you were both kind of into each other.

Eren picked up the cooler and you opened the door to the house so that he could bring it in.

"Took long enough." Jean said as he gave Eren a side eye.

"Sorry. We were talking about how much she hates you, Jean." Eren said as he put the cooler down in the middle of the room.

"Eren! Hand me a raspberry one." Connie said from his seat.

"No get it yourself dumbass! Anyways, what flavor do you want, y/n?" He said as he turned to you from where he was crouched down beside the cooler.

"Ummm how about black cherry." you said as you smirked at Connie.

"Got it." Eren said while getting up and handing it to you.

"That hurt!" Connie said, giving Eren a scowl.

"That's tough." Eren said as he sat down beside you, holding his own black cherry flavor.

"Are you sure you don't want any snacks, y/n?" Sasha said.

"Actually I'm getting kind of hungry. What all do you have?"

"Ooh follow me to the kitchen. We have all kinds of things!" Sasha said as she got up and led you over to the kitchen. "Here's the pantry and you can look in the fridge too, but there's not a whole lot in there."

"Okay cool." you said while looking through all of the different chips, crackers, candies, granola bars, etc that was in the pantry.

"Anyways, what do you think of Eren? Do you like him or do you just feel like you have to hang out here because we all wanted you to come?" Sasha said in a quieter voice.

"No I think he's really fun and I like being around him. And the same goes for all of you. You're really awesome." you said, smiling.

"I think he has a thing for you. He hasn't had an actual girlfriend in a while because his old girl hurt him. There's always girls asking for his number and wanting to be with him at parties and stuff, but he always just dismisses it. But it's obviously different now that you're here. If you like him, I think that you should show him that you do. He'd appreciate it." she told you. You were surprised that she was being so serious, but you were even more surprised that Eren wasn't a player. You kind of figured that he was just messing around with you for fun.

"Damn I didn't expect him to be the type to turn girls down instead of messing with them. I promise I won't hurt him." you said as you picked up a bag of chips from the cabinet.

"Good." Sasha said while smiling.

You felt a buzz in your pocket and looked at your phone.

Armin: is everything going well? If it is, then you can just like this message to let me know you're okay :)

You smiled at the text and gave it a like. You were really grateful for Armin and you didn't know what you would do without him.

You went back into the living room and sat back down by Eren. You all kept talking and drinking for a while and got to know each other better. Everything came naturally and nothing was awkward, which you were really happy about.

At one point, you looked at your phone and saw that it was already 3:30 am. "Ah I better get going. I need to sneak back in and I should probably get at least a little sleep so that I'm not completely tired tomorrow." you said as you started to get up.

"Awww ok ok. Well then I guess we'll see you at the party on the night after tomorrow." Sasha said.

"Bye guys!" you said while waving to everyone. They all waved back at you with smiles.

"Hold on I'll go out with you." Eren said.

You both went back onto the deck and were standing side by side, facing the ocean. Eren put one hand on your shoulder and brought his mouth to your ear and whispered something "I'll be alone in this house tomorrow night. Text me tomorrow if you wanna come over."

He took his hand off your shoulder and stepped back and you went down the stairs and onto the sand to leave. "See you tomorrow, then." you said as you gave him a smirk and started going back to the house you were staying at.
