Travail ~ a great state of suffering of body or mind

One of the guards unhooked me from the machine and I fall to my knees, panting and gasping for air.

"Get some sleep. Tomorrow you will go again," Pierce walks away with the H.Y.D.R.A guards at his tail.

I stand up slowly, flip his back off, and walk to my cell. It wasn't much. It had a lumpy bed, a toilet with a curtain around it, and a chair.

I lie down on the bed, uncomfortable. I stare up at the broken light fixture as I think about the mission. Who the hell was he? Who is Thea? Did she look like me?

The next morning

All right. Round 2. The security systems were clearly upgraded so I circled the building. I saw a door that said "Kitchen" and opened it. Delicious aromas filled my senses and I tried my best not to drool.

A young woman approaches me, "Who are you?"

"Sorry lady," I punch her in the face, knocking her out. I drag her into a nearby supply closet by the legs and take her hat and coat.

Getting dressed into them, I walk back out. I tie my hair up into a small bun and walk towards the stairs.

Training

I open the door to see the broken window from last night. No one. I get back to the stairs and continue walking.

Bar

Meh. Worth a shot. I see Popsicle standing there alone.

"Hey Popsicle," I look around and make sure we're alone.

"Popsicle?" he raises a brow.

I shrug, "Didn't know your name."

"Steve. I'm your brother, Thea," he walks closer to me.

I grab my knife and point it at him, "Okay Steve. I don't know if your deaf or something but I'm Datura. Not Thea. I don't have a brother."

"Look I'm not going to hurt you," he walks even closer.

"Aw well that's too bad. Because I will," I chuck my knife at his face and he ducks. I run at him and grabs my other knife. He falls back and I hold the knife inches from his face. He grabs my wrist, forcing me to drop the knife. I get off of him and grab a glass bottle. He punches me in the face and I drop the bottle, stumbling back. The glass shattered. I take my gun from its holster and shoot it at him multiple times.

He dives under a table and I throw the gun away, hearing the empty click.

"Thea stop!" he yells, "You know me!"

God my head hurts so much. I feel like I know him and I'm trying so hard to remember, but the harder I try the harder something pushes back. I don't know what but my head feels like it's exploding.

"Shut up! I'm not Thea! I'm Datura!" I yell at him, "I don't know who you are."

He looks behind me for a moment and before I could turn around, something hits my head, and I black out.

2 hours later

Bucky Barnes POV

I was thinking about Thea. I remember her from the HYDRA facility. I failed her. I didn't mean to but I did. Was this my second chance? I wonder if she remembers me. Why would she though? They clearly wiped her like they did to me.

I enter the elevator and decide to get a drink. I needed to clear my head.

I hear a commotion coming from the floor and seen Thea fighting Steve, again.

Her back was facing me.

I slowly crept to grab a glass bottle as she tried to shoot Steve. Steve looked at me and I motioned for him to be silent.

"Thea stop!" he yells at her.

She looked as if she was about to break in half, "Shut up! I'm not Thea! I'm Datura! I don't know who you are!"

I understood the feeling.

I walk behind her and smash her over the head with the bottle. She falls into my arms, unconscious.

Thea Rogers POV

"You can't kill her Tony!" I hear Popsi-Steve yelling.

I open my eyes and see 4 faces. The robot, Steve, Metal Arm, and a woman.

I look at my hands, which were cuffed to a bed.

Steve looks at me, "Oh good. You're awake."

He sits in a chair next to me. I sit up in the bed staring at him. I watch as he just stares at me, and I stare at him. He kind of looks like me. He has my eyes and hair. Am I high?

"I'm not going to hurt you," he tells me.

"Well that sucks because I'm going to kill you," I reply.

"No you're not. Because I know you remember me Thea."

I raise a brow, "Then uncuff me."

The robot spoke, "You can't do that Rogers."

"Robots can speak? Damn," I look at the blue battery thingie.

The robot rolls his eyes. Oh so robots have sass now too, "I'm not a robot."

"You have a blue glowy thing between your man boobs. If that doesn't scream robot I don't know what does," I point to his chest.

"Its a heart implant genius."

I ignore him and look at Steve, "So. Gonna do it?"

He looks at me for a moment then removes the cuff. I look at him for a moment and tilt my head slightly. I did not expect him to actually do it.

He walks away and opens a draw, pulling out a small photo album.

"Look Thea. Your full name is Theadora Marie Rogers," he opens it.

"My name is not Thea. Got it? I'm Datura," I tell him.

He sighs, "Datura. Look at these photos. This is us. Me and you when we were younger. Look at this one," he points to a picture of a 16 year old girl that looked like me, but younger, on the back of an 18 year old guy that looked like him, except much smaller. Damn talk about glow up.

I run my fingers over the photo and desperately try to remember.

Whatever force was stopping me from remembering seemed to crack for a moment, and it was as if a memory creeped through.

Flashback, Thea is 16, Summer of 1936

"Get back here Steve!" I chased him across the carnival grounds. He was not fast, but I was still nowhere close to him, being a young girl.

I caught up to him and stole my ice cream cone back, "I hate you."

He chuckles slightly, "I know you do."

I hug him tightly.

Back to normal

"I remember that," I let a small smile creep onto my face, something I haven't done in 75 years.

A smile appears on his face too, "That's great! Do you remember anything else?"

I think again, but whatever was wrong with my brain pushed back harder, causing me to wince and frown, "No. I'm sorry."

"That's okay," he gives me a hand out of the bed.

"Why don't you go to the kitchen? Bucky go with her."

I nod and Metal Arm follows me. We walk in silence until I decide to say something, "So. Do I know you too?"

He doesn't talk for a moment, "No."
